About a week ago a persistent and VERY annoying sound happens every 30 -50 seconds which is getting on my nerves especially as I am studying to start up a new web-based business. I've tried everything to try and figure out the cause but to no avail. There are basically Two types of sound that occur every 15-30 seconds. The first is a "Tang" sound, very quick and there is also a " Pong" sound. Again,only one note and very quick. Now,I have tried EVERY diagnostic test I know of including resetting my laptop to a time before the problem started. I also tried re-installing the sound drivers but nothing has helped at all. The only thing that is new is that because I was having problems with my bookmarks within Google chrome I decided to re-install Explorer,but I cannot remember if the sound problem occurred before or after the IE installation. I cannot see how the installation of a new browser would have such an affect on the sounds though and I don't want to go off on a tangent chasing red herrings, uninstalling IE because It "might be" at fault. Anyhow,if an expert in these matters has had previous problems such as I am currently having and can help me get them sorted out I would be very grateful. View the thread

This just started happening...As soon as I open wmp, I get a message pop up saying internet connection error - your request cannot be completed because the service cannot be found or did not respond. The service might be experiencing technical difficulties or you may need to adjust your network settings. I can't get rid of this. Couldn't find anything on google either about this. hello, My Win XP partially starts up to the auhorization point (my fingerprint) then after authorization the screen states:NTLDR is missing press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. On MS support page fault is acknowledged with resolution, which is Article ID: 305595 and a floppy disk is required. The problem is I dont have a floppy drive to load the file MS wants to send to fix problem. Has anyone dealt with the fix in another way? The file MS wants to send for me to load on a floppy is the Bcupdate2.exe utility. thanks for any assistance View this thread

Repeated failures to get ANY Windows Updates, Java Updates, etc. Error is "Windows Installer could not be accessed. I have tried restarting the installer but it shuts down immediately saying it has nothing to work on. I can't even install my printer software for the same reason. XP Pro 32 bit Every time I run a full 'Microsoft Security Essentials' scan, a buzzing noise issues from the tower (not the speaker) 4 or 5 times just before the scan concludes. MSE doesn't show any problems/threats, but does this buzzing indicate a potential problem? View this thread

There is no send button. The entire page looks like trash. All of the so called tools to make this easier are a nightmare. None of the e-mail I want to delete will delete with your insane new, "clear the checked boxes" brainstorm. Nothing works and do you really think we all have the time to figure it out??? In the past, I purchased a windows XP home Premium System builders disk. If there was a computer that didn't have the recovery disks, I could reinstall the XP operating system and use the ORIGINAL OEM license to activate the computer. Does this still hold true with a copy of WINDOWS 7 Home premium 64 bit System Builders disk. Will this disk allow me to use the Original OEM license on any computer that I do a clean install on If I Have a separate WINDOWS 7 Home Premium License on those computers? View the thread

My PC's symptoms are similar to many posted by others before - with "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine" now etched onto my otherwise black desktop. I understand warning messages were appearing on the task bar for a while but in my absence working abroad my partner decided to ignore these! The PC now appears to have gone into a state of paralysis - no internet connection, USB ports disabled , disc drives unable to read and most windows functions disabled (error message: "The specified service does not exist as an installed service"). After a long CHAT session with Microsoft's Answer Desk Support team, the conclusion was nothing could be done other than a complete OS re-install. Since the disk drives won't read from the PC when logged-on, I imagine it would have to be from re-boot, potentially losing all HD data - I therefore need to back up essential files first (but can't find a route to saving anything externally). A desperate situation for which I'd appreciate any advice. I can't even run a diagnostic tool or anything more than a McAfee full scan (which shows nothing). Is the situation recoverable or can I at least save important files to removable media? View the thread

My son then installed my OS disc on top of everything else and now I can't do anything cause it keeps telling me I have no disc space left.. Did a scan and it said my sm bus controller drive is missing so I went to dell site to download driver but was aborted half way through due to no disc space. I'm really trying Microsoft to use and like this piece of crap OS. I been using Windows since the DOS days. Navigating this Metro user interface does not work with out a lot of back pedaling and having to start from the beginning. Back button on your mouse should just take you back one step to where your where before clicking. Holding your mouse button down and swiping your cursor should allow you to move the screen content instead of draging a cursor bar. Hi, Apparently by using Office 365 MA for FIM, multiple on-premise AD Forests can be synchronised into a single Office 365 tenant. If these AD Forests also host on-premise Exchange organisations, can these orgs be merged into a single Office 365 tenant as well? Would it be possible to migrate users (mailboxes) from these Exchange orgs onto the single Office 365 tenant? Is it possible? Supported? Thanks in advance for the help. ecsword View this thread

I have Win 8 Enterprise 64bit installed with Office 2013. When I open the windows update program, the update windows says "You'll receive updates for windows only". The "change setting" option only gives me the choice of installing recommended updates the same as important updates. If I go to the "find out more" link. it just tells me to go back and "Enter Windows Update in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Install optional updates." I've done this several times but it still says "windows update only". Any suggestions? View the full article
