Please help. Somehow dynDNS IG became "active" on my computer and I want to remove it. It is blocking access to simple streaming video sites such as YouTube or the Goldfchannel.com videos. I cannot find a "Windows Updater" client program in my programs (I do not recall downloading it either). I cannot find "My Defense Plan" on my computer. I tried the "sticky" removal procedure (posted on dynDNS.com ) below but that does not work for me. 1.Open the Control Panel (found from the Start menu)2.Select Network Connections and then your current connection3.Select Properties then Internet Protocol then Properties4.Select Obtain DNS server address automatically5.Select OK until you're back to the Network Connections window When I go to my current wireless connection and go to TCP/IPv4 properties, I see that I have already "selected" "Obtain DNS server address automatically". (I believe that has never changed before or after dynDNS IG became "active" on my computer.) The next lines for use the following DNS addresses are empty and "grayed" out. I have also selected "obtain an IP address automatically". So please help me remove dynDNS IG from my computer. I just use my laptop for e-mail and simple surfing on the internet. Thank you for your support. Ozzie View this thread

Outlook 2013; Windows 7 Ultimate, Both Fresh Install. i7 16GB ram 500GB free I have several email accounts, 1. Corporate Exchange 2. POP3/SMTP ISP based Service 3. IMAP/SMTP from Web project 4. IMAP/SMTP from another Web project (different provider to #3) Exchange, flawless no issues. #2 works great as well. #3 and #4 are syncing correctly, (sync logs verify) but the sync takes 30-60 seconds for any action. Before someone suggests pop3, the ISP I am under only supports POP3 through its own servers. IMAP has to work. Other devices and OS's do not have this issue. I can have an ipad and iphone, android device setup without sync lag and will recieve mail at the same time the webmail client sees it. Other Mail clients do not have this issue. My Outlook client is set to send/recieve mail for all accounts every 2 minutes. Which means after the lag and the queue up its 15 minutes later. Even then, I have seen mail get lost and re-appear later (30 minutes). The mailboxes in question have 200 max messages in them, one has 2 folders with 10 messages that never change (notes archives). They are not a complex mailboxes, outlook should not be gagging on them. IMAP worked better in previous versions of Outlook, but going back is not in the cards. - Wolf View this thread

windows xp Desktop disconnected completely
News Bot posted a topic in Operating Systems Help & Support
I recently had new carpeting put in and my desktop, router and all of it was disconnected. When they "re-connected it, they plugged things in randomly and wrong. I got some things corrected but I still had this message the wireless connection status box says this problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer. I then hit the repair button which says it is renewing IP address. It says it could not finish repairing the problem because the following action can not be completed Renewing your IP address I have seen other posts with this message and I am sure it is because something is not hooked up correctly and I have no idea how to fix it. windows 8 Windows 8 metro apps do not work
News Bot posted a topic in Operating Systems Help & Support
I have a small remote office (they do not have an onsite IT) that received their first Windows 8 laptop but they can not access the metro apps with their domain account but can access them with a local account they created. The same GPO settings are being applied to other users at other locations and it works for them. I searched the web and found several things for them to try and none of them have worked. Here is what I have tried: 1. Make sure your computer is updated. 2. Make sure UAC is turned on. 3. If you are using skydrive users say you need to have your Microsoft profile filled out completely or apps stop working after installing skydrive. 4. check dcom settings. a. go to the start screen (from the desktop click the windows start key) b. type comexp.msc c. click Component Services, click Computers, and then click My Computer d. right-click My Computer, click Properties e. click Default Properties tab. Make sure Enable Distributed COM on this computer is checked. f. click COM Security tab. Click Edit Limits under Access Permissions. Make sure All Application Packages has Local Access Checked g. on the COM Security tab click Edit Limits under the Launch and Activation Permissions section. Make sure All Application Packages has Local Launch and Local Activation permissions. 5. try running the Apps Troubleshooter. You should be able to find it in your c: folder. It is called AppsDiagnostic.diagcab 6. checked the "All Application Packages" permissions 7. Windows 8 has a feature called refresh that you can try. It basically re-installs the OS but is suppose to leave your files. a. click Windows key + i b. on the bottom of the side bar that opens click Change PC Settings c. click General in the left column d. Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, click Get started e. follow the instructions They didn't want to try the refresh option. So we haven't done that one. Does anyone else have any other ideas? Here are the errors that the user sent me: "When I click on the store – the Window tries to load then just quits. It shows the following errors in the Event Log a. App winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store did not launch within its allotted time. b. Activation of app winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store failed with error: The system cannot find the file specified. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information. c. A clean reinstall of Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) from a DVD we've had since 2010 cannot (re)activate. Several consecutive hardware failures, presumed as due to overheating (motherboard, processor, fans) within the past month left us with a system that was new from the ground up (case included) but for the powersource, graphics card and harddrive, whereupon the supplier of our new parts reccommended a clean reinstall to recognize new hardware. In the middle of my attempt to reinstall, the computer crashed, and the new, surprisingly talky motherboard reported that it had just protected itself from a sudden surge from our unstable powersource (no wonder so many components burnt out). So, back to the repair shop we went. After the shop installed the new powersource, I booted up and saw the old install was still present, with dialogue balloon complaining that it had to be activated since it recognized new hardware. I ignored this, and got down to the business of a reinstall. Then I noticed a new problem...you guessed it...boom went the graphics card. Finally, after the shop installed a new graphics card, and we brought home an essentially new machine with an old harddrive, I downloaded a ton of updates, but recently began seeing dialogue balloons that windows could not activate, despite the fact that I successfully used the code on the back of the installation DVD's case prior to this. Attempting to activate from the System subsection of the Control Panel yields "Type a different product key for activation. The product key you typed cannot be used to activate Windows on this computer" Retyping does not help. Clicking "Buy a new product key online" brings me to this url: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/validationresult.aspx?displaylang=en&referrer=50888&p=&lcid=1033&req=00359-OEM-8703352-35871&OSV=6.1.7600.2.00010300.0.0.003.09.1033&LS=1&LegitCheckError=00000052&GenuineInfo=C004C008&Channel=16&ErrCode=4004F00C which downloaded a little script or somesuch that tells me "Windows validation in process This may take a few minutes, do not navigate away from this page." then when that's done, the page cheerily informs me "Welcome to Windows! Because Windows installed on your PC is genuine, enjoy the security, reliability and protection it provides." and advertises Microsoft Security Essentials. While I am aware it's genuine, this does not help me activate Windows or acquire a new product key. I would rather try you folks first before attempting "the automated phone system" option, because, clearly, automation hasn't helped me thus far, and I'd rather not spend time in robot limbo. Checking Computer Properties reveals a Product ID that is quadrupartite and numeric excepting the letters OEM in the second set of characters, rather than the 5-part letter-number mix on my certificate of authenticity sticker that I have been stubbornly typing into the authentication box when prompted. It occurs to me that my attempts to install on a machine that has essentially become new piecemeal (with one surge-induced mid-install crash) may somehow read as if this copy of windows were installed on several different machines. Could this be the problem? I have twenty-six days to go on my activation counter. View the thread

I am running XP Home Edition SP3 and have loaded Visual 2005 and find that the tutorial I am using for Visual C# 2005 needs to have XP Professional, SP2 (but I am sure SP3 would also work) and I don't want to have to do a whold lot of other changes. Am I correct that installing an upgrade version is the best option? Any suggestions? The disk space and machine speed is fine. View this thread

I have a question concerning a network printer. I came back to work on Monday and the printer IP Address had changed. I have been trying to get this issue resolved but to no avail. I've rebooted the computer, printer and reset the switch. Also I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer with the new ip address but we still can't see it on the network. I also took out the printer network cable and replace it with another one and still nothing. I lso tried to reset the ip address on the printer itself but it would not let me make that change. Any ideas. i'm at a loss now. Thanks. Marlin. View this thread

Here is what I have done: In Win 7, I made an image backup (vhd) using the built-in backup program. I copied this to an external HD. Then, I fired up my WIN 8 Pro laptop. Connected the external HD. Opened Hyper-V and created a new VM by using the "existing VHD" on the external HD which is the WIN 7 image backup. However, I get a "Boot failure. Reboot and select proper boot device." message. Am I missing something? EDIT: I dont want to dual boot, I want to be able to open my WIN 7 OS under WIN 8 environment. View the full article

I have a Vista OS. I downloaded driver and software for my Canon PowerShot S30 camera from the old disk that came with the camera. I found later that it's ony for Windows XP and older OS'. After downloading, I got the message that my PSCND112 was not working. Now, I find that I do not get any sound from my speakers. Could this be a result of the damaged PSCND112 - what ever this is, and what should I do to fix it? Thanks. View this thread
