i dont know why i feel the speed booast with upgrading to win8 does not feel significant on my notebook, but i wonder if microsoft could consider this feature suggestion to alleviate the loss of productivity and wait time i encounter during computer usage: have a system folder where some text files are placed. provide an option so that during shutdown/restart/startup (boot) the contents of the text file is displayed on the secondary display from the last known reading point. display a clock/date on the primary display. these serve more informational purposes so i can browse some educational or news documents when waiting so at least the dumb machine is letting me do some thinking or enlightening instead of just wait wait wait. Did a hardware upgrade (Mobo, CPU, Vid card & Ram) Kept my original 640GB HD with Win 7 Pro 32-bit installed and my 1TB USB back-up drive. I wasn’t aware of the 32-bit memory limit so now I want to upgrade to Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Can I use the Windows transfer program to save personal settings to my USB back-up drive and do a clean install. There is over 400GB of files on my back-up now (Vids, Pics, Docs and set-up type) and I’m concerned I won’t be able to access them after upgrading my HD to a 64-bit architecture and running into something else I’m not aware of? I recently upgraded my Windows XP SP3 to Windows 8, and I keep getting this DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error when I start my PC from a full power down or from standby. I've updated as many drivers as I can for my hardware, so I'm not sure what is causing the problem. I am now missing much of the data in my folders and would like to get back my WINXP. I have both the original Reinstallation CD for WinXP Pro and Wimdows Old. I do not have a Vista CD. Im creating an enterprise windows 8 image. I want to add a shutdown shortcut on the start screen so all users when they log one, that shortcut would appear, In audit mode, i created the shortuct and pin it to start screen,then i use sysprep with the copy profile methode, Now when deploying the image, and a user logs in, he can see the shutdown shortcut on hi start scree, but it doesnt work. If the user right clicks the shutdown icon and cchose open file location, it says error the path doesn not exist. When I try to play "my favorites" in Windows Media I always get the box that says that I haven't set it up yet and would I like to, so I go through picking the options I want pick save then I get the error mssg that says "a necessary component of windows media did not load please close and restart media center" . I recently upgraded a new Dell laptop to Windows 8 Pro (from Windows 8) to be able to join my domain (I am running Server 2012 Essentials); however I have not been able to compete any backups to the server (my other W8 clients do not have any issues). I get an error on the W8 PC stating "Insufficient Storage For Backup", but the PC is showing 651GB free of 685GB. file sharing via bluetooth and tethering is blocked via lacking drivers and group policy restrictions. i have no cd drives, no transfer cable, nothing larger than a shoddy bluetooth connection from my droid to the laptop and whatever i need from my phone to my desktop/internet ie bluetooth, tether, wi-fi, browser within phone but i can't d/l or transfer much at all. i have a 16 gig memory card to use until i can get something better working. i have bluetooth (technically" on both the laptop and desktop but neither will pick the either up/ View the thread

I'm in a process of upgrading from WinXP 32-bit to Win7 64-bit. It was suggested that I take advantage of the Windows Easy Transfer to facilitate the transistion of the various files and folders. However, even after several attempts, when I downloaded the Window Easy Transfer, it hangs up at 99% complete whether I save it or run it. Is there an issue with the program? View this thread
