HI, I would like to verify that the above Link(IamPCsupport.com) is in fact a legal enterprise with or partner with Microsoft, as they wanted access to my PC to help me repair some errors that are showing up on their servers and that I may end up with the "Blue screen of death" or a Black screen and I would loose all my data. They wanted access to my PC but I did not give them the opportunity as I was very suspicious about the call from North Carolina, phone number <personal info removed>, extension <personal info removed>, individual who goes by the name of Ethan. Especially when he started asking about my family status, was I married, did I have kids, etc.... Anyhow, this is a very peculiar circumstance, as it comes about just after my dealing with Microsoft technicians(from the Phillipines and India) trying to solve an Office 2013 issue that I have, it is so awkward that they had me do a similar process, that is, use the event viewer to see what the errors were, as was requested by the above Link. My issue is still pending and I am wondering wether I should go about it in another way, or is there another Microsoft support team that I can contact? windows xp OCMSN.dll could not be loaded
News Bot posted a topic in Operating Systems Help & Support
I am using windows XP. After installing Firefox browser IE stopped working. Uninstalled IE as advised by ISP tech. Tried downloading and installing IE several times again with no luck. Was told by another tech to go to control panel and to Windows Components and check to add IE. Windows components gives me the message -setup library OSMSN.dll could not be loaded or function Oc entry could not be found. Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is Ox7e. Also anything to be opened in Micro Word and Power Point viewer does not open, says to go to control panel and select where it is to open. Is there a fix for this so I can use IE again? Thank You Thelma Hawk View this thread -
Hi, Windows blue Is this true? Windows Blue will be faster, use less power, and run with a new, smaller kernel, version 6.3 (recall that Win8 runs kernel 6.2). The UI hasn't changed -- no Start button, no Aero. Windows Blue will support more screen scaling -- presumably for smaller (and larger?) screen sizes. There's some talk of "multi screen applications," although in the context it isn't clear if that refers to Metro apps. Not much change for PC and mouse users. - See more at: http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-windows/windows-blue-rumors-fly-fast-and-furious-213510#sthash.oPKNDYua.dpuf http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-windows/windows-blue-rumors-fly-fast-and-furious-213510 http://www.zdnet.com/microsofts-next-windows-blue-test-build-said-to-be-a-public-preview-7000011728/ Tnx View the full article

I am on Win 7. Installed Samsung ML-2850 printer on home network. The printer is active but will not print. I am able to print to a different printer (canon inkjet) on the same network. I am also able to print to the Samsung printer from two XP machines on the same network. I have tried to reinstall the printer on this machine as well as reinstalled on the shared machine. The same result. It has been able to print on this printer until today. View the thread

Hello, I would appreciate somebody´s advice for the following problem; A few days ago suddenly after browsing Italian Election results J in trusted www sites like major media portals, newpapers, etc , my IE10 fonts and image sizes got totally messed up. Only alarming thing was that Yahoo.it asked me to allow Adobe Flash player to run / install somekind of add-on, which I thought would be harmless.. After realising the problem, I reset IE10, run CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware and Defender. No malwares or viruses. So far I have done everything what I can even think about to resolve the issue; Even did a clean installation of Windows 8 Pro and updated BIOS without any luck. One alarming thing is that when trying to run Windows Memory Diagnostic tool through either command prompt or Win8, I only get an empty screen and cooling fan goes crazy. Could it be hardware issue? I´m running a Asus UX31E, Intel Core i7 2677M processor, 4GB RAM, 256SSD, integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000, Windows 8 Pro with IE10 and Chrome browsers (both have the same problem). I attached here a couple of screen shots where you can see that some sites work just fine but most have mixed set of fonts and the browser does not scale pictures or align the pages to full browser. Thanks in advance for your help. View the full article

Hi, I have an OEM PC that I purchased a couple years ago that came with Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed. I used Anytime Upgrade and upgraded it to Win 7 Professional. I do not have the upgrade key written down anywhere. I purchased a 120GB SSD and want to move the OS to that drive. I’d really like to do a clean OS install without the OEM freeware, and because some programs no longer run correctly. But since all I had were the OEM recovery disks, I tried using those to install the OS on the SSD. It ran for hours and seemed to hang. Could be a bad SSD, but I think that the OEM image with freeware is just too big for the 120GB SSD. I didn’t want to spend money to move the OS, but figured I’d save myself a lot of aggravation by buying my own copy of Win 7. So I purchased what I thought was a full up version of Win 7 Home Premium from New Egg, but it’s really an “OEM System Builders Pack. I have not opened this package since I’m not sure if I can use it for this purpose. I’d appreciate some guidance as to how to proceed. I’d like to end up with a clean small install of Win 7 Professional on the SSD set up as my boot drive. All data and most programs will be on the HDD. Seems like I should be able to do this without buying a new OS. Thanks View the thread

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 Nice article, but I'm confused about something... Here I quote from the article: If you have access to another computer, to save time, you can copy the text in step five, and then create a text file called "Regcopy1.txt" (for example). To use this file, run the following command when you start in Recovery Console: batch regcopy1.txt With the batch command in Recovery Console, you can process all the commands in a text file sequentially. When you use the batch command, you do not have to manually type as many commands. If I create a file called "Regcopy1.txt" on another computer, how do I access this file on the problem PC? If I put it on a flash drive, I know of no way to get to that flash drive from within the recovery console. View this thread

I set up a Media Center pc. All that’s on it is Win 8 Pro with Media Center. It’s in my entertainment center and that’s all it’s used for. There’s one local account on it with administrator level access and it’s rebooted only every week or two. The other day I tried to reset the time and got an access error. I had lost my administrator privileges on my local account. I started CMD with administrator privileges and ran net user administrator /active:yes. When I signed in as administrator I was able to set the time but when I tried to access another account in User Accounts it wouldn’t let me. So I can’t reset the local account to give administrator access even with the hidden administrator account. How can I set both accounts to give administrator access? View the full article

windows 8 Problem folder and iTunes Windows 8
News Bot posted a topic in Operating Systems Help & Support
Hello, I have problems with access to folders from C: on Windows 8 1st problem: Windows asked me to have administrator rights to copy / delete a file in any directory in C: programfiles x86 .... OK I put the file copies, it works... but it annoys me. Second problem: In iTunes I want to displace the location of mobile applications and put them in the installation folder of iTunes. Problem: As access is denied, the applications do not put in folder, I can not even drag and drop a file in my library multimedia is located in C: ... So I set the value of "EnableLUA" located in "HKLM SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies System" to "0". I can drag and drop, transfer my applications, delete messages without copy! Problem: If this value is 0 I can't launch applications downloaded from the Windows Store. So there does not to another key change that I can still run Windows applications Store? Thank you! Original title : FBDowloader will not go away My computer has become infected with the browser hijacker program, FBDowloader. I uninstalled the program and I have run Norton Power Eraser, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, McAfee Security Scan and MSE, none of which can locate it or remove it. Power Eraser says there are no rootkit viruses. Everytime I start my computer and open IE, I go to Tools - Internet Options, reset the home page to the default home page and change the search provider to Google. I then remove FBDownloader as a search engine choice. However, FBDownloader reappears whenever I restart my computer and I have to go through the process of deleting it again. FBDownloader also appears in Google Chrome and Mozilla, and I reset and delete it there as well. How can I get rid of this pest? View the thread

It appears that Windows 8 has broken the taskkill command in part at least (actually, I think it is more likely a broken ability to set the debug attribute, which in prior Windows versions allowed taskkill to kill programs even if in a different security context; but I don't know exactly how to test that or prove my hypothesis). When attempting to kill a process that is hung on exit (e.g., attempted a normal exit from the program, but it hangs and fails to exit, and continues to consume system resources), there appears to be no way to terminate the application/service, and an "access denied" error is generated even though run from the administrator command prompt. I have had this happen now many times with chrome.exe (which seems to have lots of issues with Windows 8 in general, but especially when exiting), as well as Skype.exe (a perpetual problem child program under any system). It is repeatable if you can get any program to crash/hang on exit: (1) start a bunch of chrome.exe windows, especially ones that require resources like scripts, and then attempt to exit chrome window by window - this will cause chrome to crash on exit 5/10 times. Confirm hung process via ctr-shift-esc and see that at least one chrome task is still running (chrome window may or may not still be visible) (2) From the administrator command line: "taskkill /IM chrome /F" which will give the access denied error. (3) psutils is also unsuccessful: pskill chrome /F also gives same error (run from administrator command prompt) As I understand prior Windows releases, there is a debug attribute that was set by these particular utilities (under Windows 7 and earlier) which allowed taskkill and pskill to kill processes even when the task manager failed to do so. It seems that something is broken under Windows 8 now in that regard. Any ideas how to fix? is there a registry fix? Another utility that works under Windows 8? JeffN View the full article

Note: I am using my old desktop PC (Windows XP) to explain to you the problem with my laptop (Windows 7). Problem: The last thing I did on my laptop was move the cursor about when, suddenly, the screen picture went from landscape (i.e. normal view) to A4 (i.e. through 90 degrees). I must add that through a health problem I have lost some feeling in my hands a fingers which does not help when I touch the pad and move the cursor. So it is most likely that I inadvertently changed the orientation of the screen somehow. There was no notification given on screen of the change. I shut down the computer, waited a few minutes and booted up again. The wrong screen orientation re-appeared. As I am not an IT buff, by any stretch of the imagination, I have no idea how to provide you with a screenshot if you need one. Thanks for any assistance you can give, Derek View the thread

For many years I have used Publisher 2007 and 2010 to produce booklets for our mission organization. When Office 365 came on the market (In The Netherlands, a few days ago) I took a subscription to it, because I thought then I have the newest version. But when I produced a booklet in Publisher 2013, my printer (a big commercial printer) mailed me that they could not print our booklets, because in Publisher 2013 (I then discovered) it is NOT possible to make up booklets in the CMYK color scheme!!! And you must know that all commercial printers can only use files that are made up in the CMYK colors scheme, because with RGB they cannot work. This means that now I cannot use Publisher 2013 and therefore I also had to cancel my subscription to Office 365 as well. This also means that the 99 euro that I paid for that subscription, is now also wasted money! The printer then advised me to continue to work with Publisher 2010, because in that program it is possible to produce booklets the CMYK color scheme, AND THAT WORKS VERY GOOD … and that I will do!!! I am very sorry for this, because in everything I always use the latest Microsoft products, with GREAT SATISFACTION!!! But this time Microsoft has really disappointed me and I feel very sorry for this!!! A disappointed MS-customer: Ben Hanegraaff from Holland. P.S. But I hope that MS will add this CMYK conversion button again (as it is available in Publisher 2010) in a future update of Publisher 2013 which is part of the cloud-program Office 365. Because when I studied this problem I found out that on the internet SO MANY PEOPLE are all complaining about this same problem … so I am NOT the only person who is complaining about this problem! I don't know what the number of the update was. It failed to install 3 times. My PC had to take time to configure-fail then revert each time. Most annoying. I thought doing a system to restore back to before I tried to install it the first time. That didn't do anything. I then opened the troubleshooter. Boy was than a major mistake. It fixed something but it wiped out every restore point as well as every update. It took it back to square none and said I had never done an update on it. Now when I try to reinstall the updated it keeps some and then goes through that whole install fail reconfigure then revert. Any ideas of how to fix this??? I forgot to add that it now keeps installing the same updates over and over. View the thread
