Just received this copy of what is supposed to be a full retail version of windows 7 pro.. It came boxed with COA, Made in Puerto Rico, I can see this even on the disk Hologram. SP1 is included as mentioned on disk and packaging itself. The COA also reads SKU-FQC-00129. The product key looks very legitimate to me, with a strip and everything.. It installs and activates with no problems and also passes online validation.Disk looking rather strange though, all in blue, with Hologram (which I confirm that it is NOT sticker) .. In the device manager, I am having trouble with my sound card and my audio codec has the Yellow circle with the ! in the middle and will not allow me to update and fix the problem (no sound). The prices on windows 8 app store is above 1 dollar for most of the apps, On the other hand apple/android store have most of the apps available in 99 cents. I have baught lots of apps from apple aand android store. Most of the users psycological trigger for buying apps is set to 99cents, I did not buy a single app in windows store because its seems so expensive to me. I have a honest suggestion for windows 8 apps team to reduce windows 8 apps prices to 99 cents (bring more quality apps in 99cents) if they want people to start buying apps from windows 8 store. I have a wireless network set up. I have a mac book pro which prints just fine on a Brother printer which is wirelessly connected to the wireless router. I am trying to add my PC with Vista to be able to print wirelessly. The PC can ping the printer. The print driver is on the PC and it is set as the default printer. Used it no problem for 2 years with Win 7. Plugged into Win 8 on new Toshiba Laptop, the Grcae shows up in Sound Devices and can be configured but the test tone sounds weird. I want to have a simple .bat file to map WebDAV-directories. I would like it to contain two actions: 1) net start WebClient 2) net use z: "https://....." (several of them) The first action only works when I run the batch file as administrator. The second one then succeeds but the mapped drive is not visible under my account. So I first have to start the service, and then I can run the batch containing only the "net use" actions under my account. How can I run both commands under my account? For years comming out of standby mode, my color schemes would chatge/revert to classic settings. In the past a quick reboot would reset settings, a manual reset would work, as well as system restore if necessary. This time nothing will work. I have gone back 3 times with restore and now back, several hard reboots, as well as to try and change settings. I am stuck with a classic viewn - White windows and a grey border(s). I just experienced an interesting issue, which I cannot find a way around. If a user is logged into the Hotmail app, and the computer is shut down with the Hotmail app still running. The user never logged out of Hotmail or closed the app prior to shutting down. Next time when the user starts the computer, the Hotmail app comes up and asks, the user for the Hotmail password. The issue is that the user cannot remember the password. There is no password reset button, and the user cannot get into windows. Even pressing F8 to go into safe mode at bootup does not work. There is no way to close the app, or get back to the metro screen if the user cannot log in. None of the windows key shortcut keys work either. The only option is to shut down, and then this starts all over again the next time the computer is started. Any thoughts? View the full article

I did a clean installation of XP Pro w/SP2 on a PC that had a corrupted version of XP Home Premium. The installation was done in accordance with the the instructions with the Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP Professional. The installation seemed to go OK but when I opened it it opened in Safe Mode. Even after accessing the Windows Advanced Options Menu screen and selecting the Start Windows Normally option it continues to open only in the Safe Mode. Is there another way to get it to open normally? View this thread

Just trying to download Office 2013 and the POS installer takes over, installs all this crap, and will not let me JUST DOWNLOAD THE IMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to install it on a different machine, not screw this one up! HORRIBLE, NASTY, PATHETIC process. And there is no way to stop the installer short of rebooting and who know what will happen to the machine if you do that. WORST INSTALL EVER!!!!! Now I have to go through 50 steps to get this crap off my computer and try to get back to 2010 that actually works with my exchange server.
