RUNDLL32.EXE is corrupt. I downloaded a replacement version. Windows won't let me delete the old one or copy the new one to Windows/System32. I've tried all the solutions in these posts, but I'm not granted permission change names or delete this file. I've tried to change the permissions for this file, but I need permission to change permissions. Help! View this thread

Need more insight on this: I tried to locate the file "Rgstrtn.lck", but seems it is not present in my system, after initially following the steps below from cmd box: Type cd "%allusersprofile%Microsoft Help", and then press ENTER, Type attrib -h rgstrtn.lck, and then press ENTER. Type del rgstrtn.lck, and then press ENTER. Type dir /b /od /ad, and then press ENTER. Type rd /q /s "", and then press ENTER ....after the Second step, the message reads: C:UsersWindws 7>cd "%allusersprofile%Microsoft Help C:ProgramDataMicrosoft Help>attrib -h rgstrtn.lck File not found - rgstrtn.lck C:ProgramDataMicrosoft Help>_ and after doing a thorough search manually on Search Box, that file doesn't seem to exist on my Pc, but I keep getting the same "setup error".. And reformatting the entire Disk is not an option anyway. View this thread

The last few months my computer has been crashing when i watch videos or play solitaire, but not everytime except solitaire. It freezes, then green squares are everywhere, then it goes black and comes back on. I have updated everything as much as i can, i have cleaned everything as much as i can. It doesnt crash when i play proper games like mass effect, and that seems to work fine.DescriptionA problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly.Problem signatureProblem Event Name: LiveKernelEventOS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.2Locale ID: 2057Files that help describe the problemWD-20121231-1008.dmpsysdata.xmlVersion.txt View a temporary copy of these filesWarning: If a virus or other security threat caused the problem, opening a copy of the files could harm your computer.Extra information about the problemBCCode: 117BCP1: 87BB1510BCP2: 8AEB3D68BCP3: 00000000BCP4: 00000000OS Version: 6_0_6002Service Pack: 2_0Product: 768_1Do you think it is because i have low Ram? I know nothing about computers and i dont want to make things worse. Ill appreciate any help, thank you :o) View this thread

Hi, I bought a new laptop came with Windows 8 couple days ago, and it is driving me nuts. When I tried to restart or shut down the laptop, it had a chance that "Configuring Windows Features" would show up and waste me a lot of time. I have reset the whole system 2 times and it didn't help. Then I figured it out I should checked Event Viewer and see what happened. I found out that every time the"Configuring Windows Features" showed up, there would be a error called "The server {752073A1-23F2-4396-85F0-8FDB879ED0ED} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout." And I found a solution for W7: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/03452861-6d21-4f61-bbb9-56a5b8666a73 I didn't find RegistrySizeLimit on it so I created one myself; I know the solution might not work for W8 but I gotta try. Actually, it worked, for two days, and it just happened again. The error and the "Configuring Windows Features" showed up again I went back to check the registry and RegistrySizeLimit was still there, so I decided to delete it and try it again. This time I did a SFC/SCANNOW which I forgot last time, and it told me that some corrupt files were found and fixed. Then, I restarted..... Configuring Windows Features. Pleas do not turn off your computer. Someone.....help..... :( P.S. My Windows Update was up to date and I turned the auto update off. Still, no help at all. Also I checked the Windows Update and Windows Features after the configuration. Apparently, there was no changes made. Update: I found another error on the event viewer: "CBS Client initialization failed. Last error: 0x80080005" So this could be the problem too? View the full article

I was told I would have no problem installing Windows XP Home Edition on a new computer that came pre loaded with Windows 7 Starter. When I load the CD with Windows XP I get the following: Run setup.exe I click on Install Windows XP Program is blocked due to compatibility issues. Setup cannot continue because version on computer is newer than version on CD. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem and install Windows XP? Thanks Don View this thread
