Ok, so I have my new Windows Phone 8 Lumia 920! Awesome phone, I have loved the 7.5, but anyhow, here is the issue: Syncing with Exchange 2010. Account set up. Emails appear, calendar appears, contacts do not appear in "People". However, if I dial a contact I know, do I manually dial the number of someone in my Outlook contacts, the name appears, and if I view previous calls and click on the contact, it says it is part of my company's sync, and all the info is displayed. So the contact is on the phone, but I cannot view them in 'People'. How in the world does that happen? Yes, I have checked the filters, and the only one selected is the Exchange ActiveSync, and yes, I have checked the Sync settings and contacts are ticked. Yes I have set to factory defaults. I had Win 7 Professional running under Fusion on a MacBook Pro. I bought a new Mac and deleted the Fusion partition and Windows from the old MacBook. I then used the same Product ID to install Windows 7 under Fusion on the new machine. The software will not activate because Microsoft thinks the old system is still active. How do I solve this problem so I don't have to buy a new copy of Windows? Thanks. View the thread

The latest Windows 7 update crashed my wireless networking. I spent hours blaming my AP until I realized my tablet and phone had no problems. Restored my laptop to Dec 17 and connected immediately. Problem resolved. Definitely worried about doing further updates so I am only going to accept updates in a month or so and hope Microsoft has resolved the issue. View the thread

This is for my friend. He uses a Windows 7 Home Premium PC 64-bit, with Intel Core2Duo & 3GB of RAM. He says that he is not able to do a good multi-tasking with his PC. He says that his PC slows down when there is a Video Editor & PowerPoint is simultaneously opened. Should he install Win7 32-bit instead of 64-bit?? Will it gives more ability to do multi-tasking? I have a newish Toshiba Pro/P300 laptop that came with Vista but I, perhaps foolishly, had a 'genuine' copy of Windows 7 Home put on it. It worked fine for 2 years then it started crashing for the past month(to save the disk/data supposedly) daily but just recently it finally shut completely and gave the message below. I have attempted EVERYTHING to get into safe mode(cannot!) to get to the 'repair' window(cannot!). Tried F2, F8, F12 but it always comes back to this message and status code. I can get into Set-up screen(BIOS) and have changed the thing to 'Compatability' but it made no difference. Not sure if I can do anything else in set-up. I do have the Toshiba Product Recovery DVD-ROM, Satellite Pro/P300, Microsoft Windows XP Prof - BUT I am desparate to try to get the data back(especially on the desktop) before I try the XP disk, which I understand WILL LIKELY delete ALL data! If it in fact even works! Is this correct? Is there a 'repair' function in the recovery disk which will save my data? What can I try to recover the data? Should I get someone to make cd boot disk or something? Keep in mind I am virtually pc illiterate!! Hope someone can help...soon! Windows Boot Manager Windows failed to start. Hello guys, i have just upgraded to windows8 , i have a wired problem, whenever i try to play any video in wmp, zune, or video app, i am only able to hear the sound there is no video displayed, only vlc is playing videos. Hi, Why do I have to enter the full name of an app in the search term of Apps Search in the start menu of Windows 8? For instance, I have installed "Tweetro". Search for "Twee" , "Tweet" or "Tweetr" results in 0 hits. Only "Tweetro" gives me the hit. Is there any way to configure this to report partial hits as well? Edit: I see from this blog post that he getsa hit on "Microsoft Word 2010" when searching for "Win". What? Why? And have they changed the functionality? I understand the "Welcome Screen" on win 7 pro is the user name in the center of the screen with a place to put the password and "switch user" underneath it. I understand that the "Logon Screen" has Icons for each user on the screen plus an icon for "other user". I have a domain and some of my win 7 pro 32-bit machines after control/alt/delete go the the "Welcome Screen" so all I have to do is type in the password and hit enter. I have the same version of win 7 pro 32-bit on other machines and after control/alt/delete they first go to the "Logon Screen" where I have to manually select a user, hit enter, and then I come to the "welcome screen" where I can put the password in. Since some of my machines bypass the "Logon Screen", I know there is a way to get all of my machines to go to the "welcome screen" directly after control/alt/delete instead of going to the "Logon Screen". I have tried lots of fixes, but none have worked. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if I can't bypass the "Logon Screen", is there a way to select the user I want with the keyboard instead of the mouse? View the full article

I would like to have my desktop auto-start to perform backups while I am away from the unit, and not interfere with my operations while I am at the PC. I have the time set fine, but can't get around having to click the avatar in order to begin the process. The hidden Administrator profile has been disabled in the computer manager. I think I may have found a bug. My Outlook 2013 profile has more than 75 rules. When I started testing Outlook 2013, I got the message "The rules on this computer do not match the rules on Microsoft Exchange. Only one set of rules can be kept. You will usually want to keep the rules on the server. Which rules do you want to keep?" I did the following troubleshooting: 1. I created a new Outlook profile. This didn't fix the issue. 2. I exported my rules, cleared them using "outlook /cleanrules", then reimported the rules. This didn't fix the issue. 3. I cleared the rules again (outlook /cleanrules), then hand-entered the rules. This also didn't fix the issue. 4. I reduced the number of rules to less than 50. This FIXED the problem. 5. When I entered rule #51, the problem came back. When I removed ruled #51, the problem was again fixed. Does anyone know of a fix or workaround to this issue? Thanks. View this thread

The motherboard burned up in my 2 year old computer running Windows 7. After replacing the motherboard, the sysem would not boot-up and I had to reloaded the operating system. When I went to activate the software, I found that the product key did not work. So,I telephoned Microsoft thinking this is just some security measure to keep the thieves from stealing Microsoft's products. I am good with that since it helps to keep the price down on the operating system. Sadly, I was informed by the Microsoft telephone support representative that I would have to pay for a new product key to be generated. After 48 minutes of trying to explain that it was the same computer just a different motherboard, I finally asked to speak with a supervisor. After another 15 minute wait, the representative came back to say his supervisor would make this one-time exception and give me a new product key. Sad, Sad, Sad over an hour on the phone trying to get a license for something I already own. What am I suppose to do in the future if something fails on my computer. I bought a license from Microsoft. I should not have to keep paying for the same product. We had the same problem at work about 6 months later when we upgraded the CPU from a single core to a double core. When the system crashed on boot-up our company's "computer guru" decided to reload the Windows 7. When it would not accept the product key he called Microsoft and got the same run around. He told them everything was the same except the CPU. His representative told him his actions voided Microsoft license agreement. The guru's solution was to run down to BestBuy and get another copy of Win 7. In all my years with Microsoft, from DOS 5.0 & Windows 3.0 though Windows 8, I have never really understood so many people beating on Microsoft's licensing agreements. I always attributed it to the lowly Apple fanatic. Maybe I have been too much a Microsoft fanatic. View the thread

Hi. I have windows 7 Home Premium x64 (With SP1) installed here. I need to run some programs here as administrator right-clicking in the link of the program on the desktop and selecting "Run as Administrator". The main problem is that nothing happens... I Can't see the related process or even "consent.exe" running... no warning pop ups, nothing at all. My account is Admin and UAC is ON, with "standart" Settings.
