  1. As long as it fits your mainboard and you have the right PSU you should be fine..........
  2. I say,let us give the changes a chance. Yes things are a little confusing at the moment but if we allow the new changes to take effect we maybe more satisfied with them... If in time we feel somethings need changing I am sure we can let Admin know....Then come to a conclusion...
  3. Hello and welcome. Firstly,we do NOT email forum members we keep all help on the forum for others to read and learn from and gain help..... I see your with Virginmedia... Now I know D-Link routers work well with Virgin.. As you are with Virgin Media you do understand they cap or restrict downloading.....Once you have met a certain limit or they feel you have shared over there limit data allowed they restrict your connection. Have you updated your wirless adaptor hardware driver? How close or distance away from the router are you? To close your connection can drop as is the same for distance away from the router.. As you say your connection is fine and after a few hours the connection drops or appears to disconnect, this as I say maybe your internet usage of Virgin Media, you may not be loosing connection as such but Virgin restricting your internet. http://shop.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management.html
  4. Hello there. Its not as simple as just changing a gaphics card or mainboard. A more uptodate mainboard would proberly entail buying a new power supply, this may also mean you need to buy newer RAM,a compatible graphics card if you want a higher grade computer.A new mainboard may also include having to buy a new processor unit.... Your pentium 4 3 ghz with a gig of RAM would possibly run Vista....I have one of similar grade in my bedroom and it runs Vista Ultimate with no issues. To run Windows 7 on an older computer you maybe looking at hardware compatibility issues, lack of available hardware drivers and so on. You maybe just better of buying a new graphics card wich has to be compatible with the mainboard you have now and be happy with that or build a higher grade PC or buy a higher grade one with Windows 7 already installed.
  5. I prefer OCZ or Corsair.
  6. I have purchased one but have had many come in for a clean up or reformat due to an infection......I would be ringing were you bought the computer from and complaining and get them to reinstall windows.
  7. Bill this may help you out: Office 2000 Resource Kit tools Also an idea is backup all your data then system restore to before you installed it,if a recent install.
  8. The mother board link you posted supports 1066...... If a motherboard only supports 1333 then it will only be compatabile with 1333.
  9. You need to get intouch with PB for the recovery CD. Have you restarted and repeatedly tap F8 key and choose last known good config? Or restart reapeatedly tap F8 and choose safe mode. Do either of these choices work? Is your hard drive showing on the post screen? Does your hard drive show in setup/BIOS? Under the FB options does it mention recovery or repair? Did you also try the F10 or F12 KEY? Do you mean you shut down the computer then restarted it then pressed F11? I think you realy need the recovery disks or possibly your hard drive is faulty or dead.
  10. If you tried using System Restore to fix a problem but the problem remained or other problems were introduced, you can undo the restore operation. After you undo System Restore, you can try using a different restore point. Open System Restore by clicking the Start button http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%20Vista/main/4/f/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Restore.* http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%20Vista/main/1/8/18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b/18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.png If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Click Undo System Restore, and then click Next. Review your choices, and then click Finish. Your computer will restart. When finished, you'll see a confirmation that the undo process is completed.

  12. I would be checking the internal connections.
  13. Eden you need a burning software such as Nero to burn to disk...You cannot download from the internet straight to disk.
  14. Try the following links: Error 0x80070005 - Windows Live Error message when you try to install the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Validation Tool from the Windows Update Web site: "0x80070005"
  15. I noticed you use torrents......Is your Vista legal? This could be a virus. As you have already used a torrent file download to try and fix this error then my advice is to contact the computer manufacturers and buy a legal recovery disk from them.... I am afraid as you have used torrented software we are unable to help or figure out what the issue is due to the useage of torrented software.
  16. It may not be the simple case of replacing the mainboard. You have to take in account PSU,CPU,RAM,if you post your hardware specifications we could then help you further.
  17. Paul the long beep could be GPU or RAM. Although could you restart the computer and enter BIOS/Setup and load defaults..... Does the beep stop now? OR: Resit the RAM.Or remove all RAM and test each one individualy.....Place one stick in the slot nearest CPU reboot.Does the PC now beep?Power off remove RAM and now test the next one.... Resit the GPU if it is a PCI slot one....Or test a diffrent GPU in the slot.
  18. This one has been going for at least three months.I have warned people but again they still click the attachment.
  19. Hello and welcome... My first sugestion is to borrow from a friend a multicharger and see if that will get you up and running... It is not always the power supply that dies with laptops but often the charger is broken...

  21. Hello Paul.... Unplug all external hardware that is not required for booting the computer. Firstly could you restart the computer and repeatedly tap F8 and choose last known good config......Does that stop the rebooting? If no restart and repeatedly tap F8 key and choose safe mode with networking....Does that stop the rebooting? Paul this rebooting could be caused by many things like a virus,a bad hardware driver.bad hardware,a software install, many things..... Have you installed any software just before this started to happen? Could you possibly have a virus?
  22. Are you able to restart the laptop and then repeatedly tap F8 key and choose last known good config or safe mode? Do either of these get you up and running without a BSOD? If yes then I would update hardware drivers....
  23. I am not good with Outlook Express but try: When you say you "lost" your contacts, do you mean they aren't showing in your email program window? If so, then click on "View", then "Layout", and finally, put a checkmark in front of "Contacts". If that's not the problem, then you should search for files that end in ".wab" or "PST" on your computer. What version of Outllook is she using?
