Network issue that isn't reall there
Jelly Bean replied to muppet rebecca's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hey MB. Have you tried disabling some addons? Have you added any new addons in the past few days? Many addons are not needed, try disabling some of them, time consuming I know but this could possibly be a cause. You can always re-enable them if they are required. EDIT:This may help: Internet Explorer does not start or stops responding -

Hey Shawn I suppose some of the guys are in bed by now, diffrent time zones. Can you let us know if any of the fixes have helped in anyway please? Just on one note I did compress my Vista hard drive some time ago and I wish I had not,it refused to boot afterwards and replaced the hard drive and a reinstillation was in order. Shawn what is the size of your harddrive?I wonder if it is an older one that it was having issues before you compressed?

Firstly I would enter BIOS/Setup and load defaults, while there see if your hard drive is listed. Also make sure any external hardware not needed for booting is disconnected. This is possible a over heating issue that may or may not of caused hardware damage. Have your tried restarting and repeatedly tap F8 key and choose last known good config or safe mode?Do either of these work? This could be caused by a bad driver, virus etc, lets see what we can do to figure this problem out for you.

That is excellent, your up and running. I hate updates. My babies netbook is still installing updates three days later.

Hello and welcome. Open deviice manager and see if there is a yellow symbol located under other devices or under USB please. The problem if a recent one maybe a driver issue, try uninstalling the Vodafone driver and the USB port driver. It maybe a USB port is damaged have you tried another port? Is this an older dongle that may of been damaged?

Notebook Processor Upgrade Compatability
Jelly Bean replied to 07tonzpau's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
It is a notebook. I doubt it is upgradeable.I am with RandyL on this one,you would have to buy a new notebook of higher specifications. I would upgrade the RAM to 2-4 gig wich would speed the notebook up considerably. Your running a dual core CPU,adding the RAM would be the best idea. -
I would say this was a corrupted install. If you have Vista FULL install disk I would delete the partition during the install process and create a new one. If you only have the recovery console then rerun it,however DO NOT use old settings and files as a choice. If this still dont work your recovery console maybe corrupt. However do not worry we can see if we can help you further. I sugest corruption on the recovery console as you have an Acer.My recent experiences with Acer showed corruption in the operating system and the recovery console. The minute I turned on my daughters netbook (Acer) I ran the usal checks and it showed corruption. We have two Acer computers at my volunteer job and both showed corrupted recovery consoles. You could try right click on command prompt and choose run as admin.Typ in sfc /scannow and hit enter on your keyboard.Let sfc /scannow run and let us know what it says and if corruption was found and fixed.

Hello Liam. I myself are unsure of the problem at the moment. Have you tried uninstalling the old drivers first then reinstall fresh ones?

WinToFlash is a software that makes your USB pen drive into an installation option. You can install any Windows version via USB pen drive by using this simple software. It is the easiest software that I have found on the internet. Full Windows install disk. Step 1: Download WinToFlash Save to your desktop. This software is excellent and I used it yesterday to install on my babies Acer Aspire netbook with no issues at all.

Firefox NOT remembering login details
Jelly Bean replied to Sebastian42's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
You must have the "Remember passwords" feature enabled for the browser to remember them. In Firefox 2.0 and above, make sure Tools -> Options -> Security / Passwords -> "Remember passwords for sites" is checked. Additionally, you may have once told the browser to never save the passwords for the site. In Firefox 2.0 and above, check the list under Tools -> Options -> Security / Passwords -> Exceptions. Did the machine ever connect? I personaly would of done a system restore to before you fiddled or changed settings. Then try connecting or run wireless network setup wizard. If you try to diagnosis this problem, you may see a window that says that Windows Network Diagnostics “Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server” http://media.tech-recipes.com/rx_images/ie7/dns_vista.gif To fix this problem, you should do one of two things. First, just upgrade your router to take advantage of this new feature. Second, you can just turn off this TCP feature. I am sure there is an easier way to turn off this TCP feature. I just don’t know it. Here is how I have been doing it: 1. Connect to your network on your troublesome vista box 2. Click on this link while your network connection is working: res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm# 3. Click the link that says Diagnose Connection Problems 4. You should see something like this: http://media.tech-recipes.com/rx_images/ie7/tcp_off_vista.gif 5. Click the button that says Turn off the TCP setting that is not compatible with your router. 6. Allow the repair to take place If it works to fix your system, you should notice that your episodic connection problems disappear.

Well that was easily installed. It took about half an hour to convert the USB to bootable so I could install XP on babies netbook. Popped in USB restarted the netbook and so far all appears well. Windows is installing. Copying files as I type. Will let you know how it ends. What a simple peice of software that appears to work.

Hey there. Could you give a little more information on your setup please? Do you have a main PC connected to the router? How many PCs do you have connected via wireless? Distance from router? Please add more information so we can try and rule in or out an issue. The card you bought is not brilliant it is a budget brand but should still give you a decent internet connection.
