how hot is this laptop getting... try resting the laptop on some videos boxes.on a table...so you have at least an inch space under the laptop. poor air circulating will shut a laptop off. make sure the video boxes DO NOT block the cpu fan. ..... have you ran anti virus scans etc. try this one http://www.trendmicro.com. post back once you have tried these. regards danzil

i believe you are getting confused between physical ram (random access memory) and hard drive memory(storage space)... if you are not downloading anything but the free space is filling up, you may have a self replicating worm. have you done anti virus scans. try this online one http://www.trendmicro.com also download ewido update it and do a complete system scan, remove all entries found,,,download it from here http://www.ewido.com. post back with your findings. regards danzil.

well at least the repair is under warrenty. it sounds to me at first glance that the memory may be the issue...be it before the power supply issue or has been effected by it..... do you receive any blue screening..... load the pc up if possible then right click my computer> click on manage>then event viewer.>system....check for any red errors.note them and post them here...... do you have another stick of ram to test... also did the engineer do an integrity test on the hard drive before installing it in your new board.. regards danzil

hi there ok,to boot into the bios, you need to keep tapping the "delete" key (not back space) at startup, this also may be f2. then in there you will see your bios and all the settings to change...be carefull in here dont change anything you shouldnt.... tell you what can i have the make of your computer,or at least bios.... when you first turn your machine on you will see all the memory test etc on a black screen.... in there somewhere will state your bios manufacturer, There are three main BIOS manufacturers: Phoenix Technologies, American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), and Award Software. let me know which one it is then i can guide you to the correct setting to change...also is this sound coming from the motherboard speaker or the buzzer on board. have you made sure all fans spin correctly, and the inside of the pc is free of dust. i will help as much as possible. regards danzil -

if its a tv card you should be able to use the tv in connector,to plug in your satellite,,,,this will only receive the channel you are watching...unless it is a dvb-t card then a strong aerial is needed. regards danzil

when you first boot the pc.is the hard drive shown in there (bios)......make sure your bios is set to boot from hard drive....just in case its trying to boot from other means... do you have another spare machine to put your hard drive into to back up your data,or see if it is at least found by windows.... disk read errors can be so many different things....make sure all cables inside are firmly in.....try a different IDE cable.also try running the pc with the hard drive connect to the IDE on its own....should be set to master....also if its still not found try changing the jumper on the hard drive to cs...(cable select).see what happens then. give them a go then post back regards danzil.

mmmm.have you made sure the power switch is conected in the right positoin on the board.. try putting the board on an anti sstatic workspace.....piece of cardboard will do....plug the power supply into it...both atx and p4 power.(big power connector and yellow black 12v supply)..then just touch the power on button with a flat bladed screw driver (be very carefull please)..if it powers on then there was a short in the case somewhere,,,,, just coz the old board powers on doesnt mean the new board is dead,,,circuits will be different. do you have yet another psu to test with to make sure... right here goes how to build a pc danzils way 1)make sure no screws or motherboard stand offs are in the wrong position to your new board. 2)install i/o back panel 3)insert motherboard and fix in position(payin attention to step 1) 4)install cpu + heatsink n fan 5)install ram hard drive/cd drives. hard drives. 6)connect on board power hdd led, reset switch etc 7)connect audio header, usb header if needed 8)connect atx plus p4 12v trickle supply (yellow black 4 oin connector) 9) power on and test follow these then post back regards danzil
