  1. I see VPCW11S1E/P, VPCW11S1E/T and VPCW11S1E/W at the Sony site. It appears that the audio driver from Sony is the same for all of them. Did you download the Audio_Driver_Realtek_5.10N_Q_32_5.10.0.5830.zip from Sony?
  2. I'm glad to hear that Jim. Like you said these things can be frustrating when trying to get to the root.
  3. Based on your previous posts and your answer to me it's obvious you are using an illegal pirated version of Windows. if it were legal it would be one license-one computer. It's our business because it is not only against forum rules to assist in such matters it can run us afoul of Microsoft which we can ill afford. Furthur it is also against The Rules to engage in rude behavior which you have clearly just done. Due to the second infraction: Thread Closed Member Banned
  4. We really need to determine this. What does it say on the disks? How much did they cost? Have you purchases additional licenses for them?
  5. As you can see by all the posts there are indeed many possibilities. Consider them all and do indeed read Synapses link. It might well give you some insight. I'm a bit confused by some of your posts. Does that mean it is only one picture that isn't printing correctly? By the way Synapse is well respected here so please do consider his words.
  6. Pardon me for butting in but I have used certain versions of AVG FREE when they were already installed on other machines. Not only were those machines infected but AVG FREE missed a lot of the infections when scanning and couldn't even clean a lot of the infections it found. Avast and Antivir did what AVG could not do. I would go with those Starbuck suggested. MSE included. Just my opinion based on past experience.
  7. I think most laptops come with optical drives these days. You might have a netbook instead of a laptop. Netbooks not having an optical drive is indeed a fallback. One possible solution is to get an external optical drive. Seriously it might come in handy for other reasons too. If you do have a netbook I hope the game specs are low because a netbook specs are usually dismal.
  8. Although the memory is low the problem might be related as to what's running at startup on one that isn't on the other.
  9. Damn. Nice post. Keeping up to date is easier with you posting. Just did a cleanup on a Limewire infested computer but that was easy. So much worse going on these days.
  10. Have you tried running the installation disk before plugging it in? easycap.co.uk
  11. Have you tried removing the card first? It sounds like it's detecting the card and trying to install drivers for it. Remove the card and see what happens.
  12. What was the last thing you did prior to the error?
  13. You could roll back the driver from device manager. System Restore might do the same thing.
  14. Actually it is not more efficient. Members don't see both threads. Only you do. As such they can't expand on the information given on other threads. You not only do yourself a disservice by posting multiple threads it wastes other peoples time by bouncing back and forth between threads trying to put all the information together. And if they get it wrong you get it wrong. I will also point out rule 7 in the The Rules which states: "Do not double post in any forum with regard to the same topic, doing so will result in the removal of the second post." So you really will miss out on a lot of information if we delete one of your entire threads. Jelly Bean was doing you a favor by politely informing you of this and not deleting your other thread as she had every right to do. Please respect that fact and don't double post again.
  15. We don't know the make, model and number of your PC so we don't know what ports it has. Your all in one C3180 is USB only. If your getting that message try a different port. On some old models there may be USB1 and USB2 but they should be paired. So try a different port. Notably switch the two pairs on the back or if using the front try a pair on the back. HP all-in-ones will typically do a self calibration when turning on the printer or when starting a print operation if a print operation was not performed fairly quick after a previous operation. This is by design and will cause a delay before it prints. Getting the message that using a USB2 port rather than USB1 would be faster is a fairly typical generic message given anytime a USB device that is USB2 capable is plugged into a USB1 port. My hunch is that your computer has only USB1 ports, your printer is USB2 capable and your printer is just self calibrating before it begins printing. As far as data transfer goes it would not make much difference on a PRINT operation once the print starts.
  16. Good to here that matt. How did you resolve it?
  17. 4kb would be the size of some small text files. Vista and 7 store some small files in strange places. That's about the size of index.dat files that Windows uses. It's barely enough to create a blank notepad file. I would not be concerned.
  18. Sorry about the cross posting Starbuck. Starbuck is an expert in this field. Listen to him.
  19. I believe that is correct as long as you are getting the full download file. Once you install it you will need to activate it in order to get the the latest virus definitions. Without that it won't do you much good. Of course that means you need to pay for it. With some programs and I think Mcafee may be one you can only download the setup file as a saved file. This is not the full program. Once you run the setup file it will download the full program and install it. The best thing to do in order to avoid conflict which some AV's insist on before they will install is: Uninstall all previous AV's. Starbuck advised you on that. Immediately download, subscribe and update your new AV.
  20. Happy Thanksgiving Holiday to those of you in America. I Have a lot to be thankful for every year.
  21. I'll admit I don't know what the problem is and it's likely the others are right. However I think I need to point out that the fix from Goku will find and change both the upper and lower registry values. It's a regedit file and that is the only thing it does and it does it correctly without changing anything else which is easy to do when editing the registry manually. I personally checked the regedit file from Goku and it is written exactly right.
  22. I think he was full of it by saying such a thing. These days when I go to Bestbuy I find the shelves empty of plenty of items. From computers to games to DVD's etc. Even basic items like commonly used inks, printers, combo drives, external drives, routers etc. the selection is not only limited but even so called stocked items are sold out. Yet if you shop Bestbuy online the selections can be huge. I for one get tired of seeing temporarily out of stock. I notice they always seem to have the big ticket items in stock though. I know shelf space is limited but how much room can the most widely used HP blank ink cartridge take yet often the slot is empty on the shelf. Even the instore selection of computers is limited and a lot of them are sold out. By his reasoning computers must be obsolete too.
  23. Thanks Barry. It means a lot to him.
  24. If this has happened since you first got it I would contact the manufacturer. At eleven months old you may still have one month left of your warranty. That is if it is hardware related of course.
