  1. Thanks everyone. JD it is Dave. :D
  2. I see a Deskjet F4180 but not a Deskjet F1480 at the HP support site. Normally you just use the software to bridge to OCR. No need to set a file extension. You just send the scanned document to Word. Are you sure you have the OCR software installed? This from HP: If you are using HP Photosmart Essential, the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software might not be installed on your computer. To install the OCR software, you must re-insert the software disk and select OCR under the Custom installation options.
  3. OK. Without the complete source code I'm guessing by the looks that you have a single table <td> set up with a line break in the table <br> This is why you see a column. What you need to do is set up a table row then table data inserting the values as you go. <TR> <TD><TD><TD> </TR> However you are also using column span <td valign="top" colspan="2"> which implies there is more to the source code than you supplied. This implies a header. Have a look at tables at the HTML CODE TUTORIAL site. Be warned though that setting up tables within tables gets very complicated.
  4. This is a very specific topic relating to the software program. It might be best to search at their site. As this appears to be pure HTML the code is simple only if you are experienced in it. However you would need to supply the entire source code of the page as only a single mistake can break the page code. A link would be better. I would suggest checking against something like WC3 if you are looking for coding errors. Coding a page manually is not easy.
  5. Actually I do get that effect on Windows 7 if I create the folder in a directory (like Documents) but not if I create it on the desktop. I never used to get it on previous operating systems. I can only assume that this is a Windows 7 function when a directory is in use. I suppose Microsoft needs to rewrite the base code of the OS. :) Like you said, "What will be will be".
  6. 1. What is the exact make and model of your computer? 2. Is it a desktop or laptop? 3. What operating system do you have? 4. Does it have a sound card or is it onboard sound? 5. What is the sound chip or card. 6. Exactly what speakers do you have? Part of it depends on the sound quality that was actually uploaded to Youtube. Some are really good and some are really bad. The really good ones can sound great with a good set of speakers. My speakers are pretty good with a great sub-woofer and my Youtubes sound fantastic if the upload was good. I'm using a HP desktop running Windows 7. Onboard sound Realtek driver version 6.0.1.5882 that supports 7.1 speakers. Logitech surround sound speakers. X-540. About $300 U.S. when I bought them. I think everyone has great points. But remember nothing can overcome a cheap pair of $20 speakers or a poor quality upload,
  7. Your call Dalo Harkin.
  8. I don't have my headphones connected at the moment but this sounds familiar. Do you want the speakers turned off when you have your headphones plugged in? If so and if I remember right try the sound in the control panel and not realtek in the control panel. Control Panel classic view>Sound>Highlite headphones>Configure. I'll try to look into this more tomorrow if that is not it.
  9. I seriously doubt that an old computer can handle Windows 7. You better run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
  10. BeeCeeBee asked exactly the right question as usual. And you supplied exactly the right information. You probably have a dvd/cd combo R/WR which will burn CD's. 115MB will fit easily on a CD which is what you need to play it on a card CD player. You will need to burn it has an MP3 file which is normally associated with music files or an audio CD. Something like Nero, Roxio or CyberLink will do it. You probably already have the software. If you want to play it in a CD player use a CD-R disk. Also slow down your burn speed as many CD players can't read it if it is burned at too high of a speed. I have a Beetles audio CD that is that long and it works just fine as long as you do as I have suggested.
  11. OK. Putting in a hard drive with Windows on it already and booting into Windows from it may sometimes work but it rarely will work right. Here is what I think your best options are: 1. Use the disks that came with your inherited computer to reinstall Windows on your old drive. Use the full format to wipe the drive and install. This will undoubtably work and will probably get you all the correct drivers as well. Update Windows immediately after. 2. If you don't have the disks buy a full Windows set. Make sure your system can handle Vista or 7 if you choose not to use XP. Although you may eventually get around this other ways it will not be easy if possible at all. Besides Microsoft takes a dim view of the method you used. However if you employ method 1 or 2 you will be completely legal and a good chance it will solve your issue.
  12. Hi. Did you follow the instructions at Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool?
  13. Hi Tony. NE here.
  14. Hi. This may be way off base but I thought I might mention it anyway. Did you put your old hard drive in the inherited computer and it worked without reinstalling Windows?
  15. Like Dalo said it's hard to diagnose without being there. It seems your drivers are ok. One computer can connect but not the other. So what is the difference between the two computers? Did you enter the router key when trying to connect? It's usually on the bottom of the router. Is there security software on one computer that is not on the other? For instance with Mcafee Security Suites you have to allow a connection there before configuring it with Windows. The point is you have to isolate the differences then work with security software to allow it. You may have to start all over by deleting the connections and disabling security temporarily to figure it out. I'm not a network guy but it may help if you do so. Good luck.
  16. At 1024X768 on my wide screen it fills the page on BBC. At 1280X960 it looks like yours. So it's probably a function of your resolution and the page layout. If the page was coded with absolute values for page widths or tables instead of percentages then at different resolutions it will do that.
  17. We hope you enjoy your stay here.
  18. I think better speakers are your only option.
  19. Hi Jack. Download the owners manual from Dell. On page 52 it shows how to run the Dell diagnostic utility.
  20. Hi greek229. Could you please start a seperate thread for your issue. Not all problems are the same even if the appear to be on the surface. Thanks.
  21. I don't understand. You managed to find this site, join up and even post. Yet you supply almost no information in your post. Elaborate.
  22. That shouldn't be neccesary.
  23. If no one else answers I see a few problems. 1. It's an Advent. No support there. Once sold the problems are yours. 2. Windows 7 Professional and 1.5 Gb of RAM. I'm surprised it even runs. 3. You ran registry fixing programs. If anything that screwed things up worse. Where did you buy these mcgawn?
  24. You said System Restore wouldn't work in your first post because it wouldn't open. Later you said you did it via the method DSTM suggested in safemode but it made no difference. Is this correct? Did you restore prior to the game installation? Generally this will fix such issues unless malware was installed alongside the game. I'm unfamiliar with the game but did you buy it retail? Other things like Control Panel not opening could also indicate malware. Were you ever able to uninstall the game via Programs and Features in the Control Panel instead of just reinstall ? You got the game for Christmas but you said this started yesterday. It's unclear exactly when you installed the game. Was it yesterday? To be honest it sounds like your system may be infected with malware in my opinion in spite of your Norton scans. However more detailed information would help.
  25. I had an issue with my LG and phone support sorted it right out for me. It might be worth calling them. Look to the right of this page for the phone number if you are in the UK. LG Welcome to LG Customer Service & Support My situation was different but it was resolved fast.
