  1. Hi and welcome to FPCH :)
  2. It sounds to me like you uninstalled the Chipset drivers as opposed to the audio drivers, Some if not most chipset drivers control the audio, ethernet and more. Can you clarify it was only the audio drivers?
  3. As Beeceebee has said its one of the most simplest things to add in - you can have a look in my build guide for an add in card -
  4. If you have any slots near the GPU for fans then you need to install additional fans, some fans you can buy now point directly at components, they look a bit silly, but they do the job.
  5. As soon as you mention DELL and then upgrade, you are very limited. Most laptops now as Tootech has said are not upgradeable, beyond basic parts
  6. It does seem strange to have music on in the background - do you open media player at all? I am thinking that one of the demo songs is playing automatically somehow, although I have never heard of this before. Can you check that media player is closed.
  7. Hi and welcome to FPCH :)
  8. Luckily for you - on your ASUS MOBO disk they have a facility - cant remember what its called from memory, but it lets you update the BIOS in a windows environment. (EDIT just looked at the link he he) look on the ASUS website or download it through the software and update to the VERY latest BIOS - you WILL need to change any seeting in the BIOS when its been 'flashed' as it all reverts to factory settings. so things like the HDD to the first boot device etc. Any issues let us know.
  9. As you may be able to tell I am not kept here for my sense of humour :D
  10. Have you contacted DABS about this? you need to call them as opposed to Sony and tell DABS the issues you are having. As you have had the PC 6 months, you may have left it a little too late to get them to actually do anything. let me look into this more.
  11. Hello and welcome, you pc seems to have left a bitter taste in your mouth - get it :D whaaa never mind lol
  12. Netgear routers are nororious for not broadcasting the SSID plug the lappy into the router using an ethernet cable and see if you can access the net. I would suspect that as its a Netgear router, you need to enter the home page and add the device. I did a whole post on this, but cant find it :(
  13. I just found this in terms of the effects RSTRUI.EXE, Prevx Obviously DO NOT use the scanner - but it shows the effects it has
  14. I have just had a quick look and I can't find anything relating to permission times. (although I am using XP) I would guess that you would have to use some kind of specific software for this
  15. 59 from cold is just wrong. You HAVE to be aware that not all MOBO sensors are accurate. before you go mad buying and messing with new heatsinks, have a look on your mobo website and see if there are any issues with temp sensors on that board. I would say that if it says 59 at boot up the temps being displayed are wrong. Some MOBOs do have issues with temp readings and they are normally fixed by a BIOS update
  16. It sounds more like static builidng up in the phono sockets. remove the cables and check they are clean. If this is happening at random intervals then that would explain the static problem if it is only happening when certain sounds are emitted say a loud bang on the game then the sound setting may be set wrong in the audio control panel
  17. Most newer 'Digital' devices that are related to sound use optical cables.
  18. Its fine - the clock speed will still be 3.0Ghz its just that they have built in abilities that reduce the clock speed when the pc isnt doing much - leave the CPU Z window open so you can see it and launch WMP or something and you will see it go up.:) personally for an extra 1-3 FPS I would leave the hyperthreading alone
  19. And please dont use lots of paste as this can have a negative effect and dont bother with the spreading of the paste as the pressure from the heatsink will spread it - for a 65nm CPU which is about 8 times the size of the chip you are applying to only needs about a grain of rice size of thermal compound.
  20. So the CPU was at 59 and the fans are set to kick in at 60 - so that's not ideal. you need to leave the PC off for a few hours and then go straight into the BIOS and get the temps as 59 would not be on initial power up  from what the temp is at 'cold' you can either set the target temp higher or change the paste and heatsink
  21. Also in terms of accessing your work 'data' from home, I am guessing you are using a VPN and this is where you need to get your work IT dept to configure it all correctly.
  22. Have you actually been into the routers home page and configured the router?
