  1. Can you try Activeshooter from another connection ( your daughters ? ) This would confirm if it was machine based. Have you tried turning off your Firewall and Essentials real time protection ? If you do - remember to turn them back on again.
  2. Let us know how you get on. Starbuck will be able to recommend a good - totally free - Antivirus. I know we both use Microsoft Essentials - but there may well be a better one now. Certainly DO NOT pay for an Anti-Virus :)
  3. Hi This is the last 2 hops from my tracert: 8 25 ms 23 ms 23 ms 212.111.33.234 9 27 ms 26 ms 25 ms diamond.surehosting.co.uk [178.79.160.68] This is the last 2 from yours Both get as far as the IP 212.111.33.234 ( which is a server on Telecity Group ) Yours, however, does not make the last hop to diamond.surehosting.co.uk [178.79.160.68] The traceroute is not making the last hop. This could be because the Telecity server is not forwarding the request or that Diamond-Surehosting is blocking the request. It could be that Activeshooter are blocking your IP Address. If you can log on with another computer is there an Admin or Moderator that you can ask to check specifically if your IP Address is being blocked.? Sometimes sites ban specific IP Addresses - some even block ban ..... i.e. all IP Addresses in a range. I am not sure that this would stop a tracert to the site - but it is worth asking to make sure that you are not being blocked in this way. For info - your IP Address for the above posts is 2.122.220.1 You can check on the problem computer by typing "What is my IP Address" into Google. ============ Also try this: [ before contacting the site ] Go back to the elevated command prompt .... ( "Run as Administrator" ) Type in .... ipconfig /flushdns ....... ENTER [ space after ipconfig ] Try pinging the site again ..... if this is successful try the connection ============== Try deleting cookies Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options >click on the Delete box make sure that "Cookies" is ticked > Delete Try the site again.
  4. Hi, One of our security guys will probably be able to advise you better - but try this until they reply....... Download and install Revo Uninstaller - click here You want the FREE version Run it. If it finds Norton then click on this to un-install. There are various options - select the "Advanced" This will remove all Registry entries. Chances are it will not show up ..........
  5. Thanks :)
  6. cockpheasant, This thread is 4 years old ! Can I ask you to start a new one please :)
  7. Hi Try the following: Start ....type in ....cmd.....right click on the cmd.exe that appears top left of screen > click on "Run as Administrator" At the command prompt ( black screen ) type .... tracert http://www.activeshooter.co.uk ...... [space after tracert] Then hit ENTER Your text should look like this: C:\Windows\system32>tracert http://www.activeshooter.co.uk Tracing route to activeshooter.co.uk [178.79.160.68] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 2 ms 1 ms 2 ms 192.168.1.1 2 16 ms 16 ms 18 ms 88-104-32-1.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com [88.104.32.1] 3 16 ms 16 ms 16 ms 85-210-252-133.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com [85.210.25 2.133] 4 17 ms 16 ms 16 ms 85-210-252-13.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com [85.210.252 .13] 5 25 ms 24 ms 23 ms host-78-144-8-111.as13285.net [78.144.8.111] 6 * 24 ms * linx1.telecityredbus.net [195.66.236.82] 7 25 ms 25 ms 46 ms 85.90.238.70 8 25 ms 23 ms 23 ms 212.111.33.234 9 27 ms 26 ms 25 ms diamond.surehosting.co.uk [178.79.160.68] Trace complete. It will not be exactly the same as we live in different parts of the country ( I think ) If yours times out early on we may be given an indication as to where the problem lies ( or not :) ) This link will explain how to copy and paste the tracert results ( it does say IPConfig /all ...... but the method is the same ) click here
  8. Hi Chris Try running MBAM in Safe Mode. Re-boot the system and constantly tap F8 about once per second. You should get a list of options .........Safe Mode will be one of them. ( you can use Safe Mode with Networking if you still need to d/l MBAM ) Install > Update ( important ) > Run MBAM It will produce a log in Notepad. Copy this and post it here please.
  9. Try opening IE In the address bar ( where it usually says http://www.barclays.co.uk ) delete everything and type in 89.167.225.172 ...............then hit ENTER This should take you to the Barclays site ......... Is it the same accessing it this way ? I have just tried it - With IE 10 too - and there is no problem ( for me anyway :) )
  10. Hi Dominic and welcome to ExTS :)
  11. Try this first: Delete Cookies. Open IE > Tools > Internet Options > Delete Check "cookies" > Delete It could be a corrupt cookie causing the problem and installing IE 11 would not solve this particular problem.
  12. Give the two options a try first. I assume you have IE 10 ?
  13. Hi H20 Try Restore Advanced Settings IE. see this tutorial here - click here If Restoring Advanced Settings doesn't do it - try Reset

  15. Hi, We will still answer questions relating to XP - even after Microsoft give up on it. :) The point Armageddon was making is that as MS withdraw support those of us who still use XP ( and I am one ) will be more vulnerable. There is one train of thought that says that hackers/spammers are queueing up to cause countless XP owners countless problems. I doubt that this will be the case - but we will need to be aware that critical updates will not be available and problems could, and probably will, be more evident with XP users than they are at the moment.
