  1. Second vote for powerline adapter. Be aware that you will lose a bit of speed compared to an ethernet cable. Also - if the 2nd floor wiring circuit is independent from the router power this may cause problems.
  2. Je suis désolé - vous êtes banni maintenant
  3. Post a link to the site when you get it up and running. If we can help further just shout.
  4. Hi I don't think the "Operating System not Found" error is linked with the MBAM report. In fact I don't think the error report shows up anything too serious - obviously one of our security experts would need to confirm this. As Vr5Fx suggests - this is linked ( usually ) to the hard drive. As this machine is only 8 months old you should still be covered by the warranty. You need to confirm that - under the terms of the agreement - you are not invalidating the warranty by removing the hard drive. Give the sellers a ring.
  5. If you are paying people then you need to consider how the site itself is going to finance this. Are you going to have paid for downloads ? Goods for sale ? Advertisements? registration fees ? Getting a site up and running is a slow process ( I can vouch for this :) ) If there are lots of other similar sites then your site will not show up on a Google search. If this is the case ( as was with mine ) then people don't find you. Frustrating !! You need lots of links to your site from other sites. I don't really understand how Google works and how sites are rated - but it is a slow business building up visitors / members.
  6. Hi I have just looked up the IP Address of your last post. It is not showing Milton Keynes but Hartford Baldock - near the A1(M) :) It is the location of the server - not your house that is identified.
  7. Hi Ray You really need Starbuck or Etavares to advise you further. Download MBAM from here ( the free version ) click here Install > Update > Run it. It will produce a log. Copy this here please.
  8. Could you have a word with the site owner here ?? :) :) Seriously - we all contribute our time here for nothing. All help sites are the same. I was offered some time back - to take on the Admin of a site ( paid ) which I refused. I didn't want to feel that the owner could pressure me in any way - I did it for nothing. I didn't feel bad when I left. It may be that there are people interested enough to offer their time freely. We do it because we enjoy it .........
  9. Did I mention I got a new motor recently ? http://www.netcarshow.com/Vauxhall-Antara-2007-wallpaper.jpg
  10. Hi Steve and welcome to ExTS :) When you jump out of aircraft you are supposed to take a 'chute with you :) Enjoy the forums - any help you need with your computers somebody here will have an opinion
  11. Hi Bluebird, Nobody here, as far as I know, is into web design. I have used packages before for websites and most help forums are "pre-designed". The layout for the site ( this one for instance ) is pre-determined. We can add more forums but we are limited to what we can do. Take a look here: click here This is my own site ( not very busy :) ) It is totally free. No hosting fees - no site fees. I get a band of advertisements - that's it. I know the guy who started this site - it is free too ( I think ) click here What I am suggesting is that £5 per month adds up over a year. I was paying something like £80 for hosting on my first site ( for 2 years ) I didn't think that this was economic for the numbers that I got. This is something else that you need to consider. Getting the site up is a lot of work. If not may people find it you have to wonder ..... is it worth the expense as well as the time ? My suggestion - find a suitable ( free ) package and get going with that. Make your mistakes there - then if you want to later .........transfer to a .com .net or other address with paid for hosting. Others may have differing opinions :)
  12. Hi Tim I have edited your last post so that it reads better.
  13. Hi Tom There is no sound on VGA so no use for video anyway
  14. That looks amazing Bluebird Try running the test again - usually the upload is about 10% of the download. ( very rough guide )
  15. Hi, If you re-set it to factory settings - yes - it will be returned to the "as you bought it" state. You will lose any installed software. You will lose any saved files and data ( photos for instance ) You will not have the Anti-Virus program that you have now. You will not have the updates that have been constantly installed to the system ( these can be added later ) I don't understand what you are asking here :)
  16. You could give CCleaner a try. click here DO NOT use the registry option. This will clear out old / unnecessary files. You only need the free version.
  17. Hi Tim and welcome to ExTS As far as Operating Systems are concerned NTFS file systems are more secure. FAT32 was brought in way back with Win 95 FAT32 is old. This is probably more significant when using hard drives.
  18. Hi Does this have a file name to reference it? If so - if you go to the search box and type in this reference ...... click on "Files" ......does it show up ? If it does you should get the location.
  19. We are not going to get anywhere very fast if you don't answer my questions. =============== Check that the RPC Service is set to "Automatic" Start > type in ....services.msc .....ENTER Scroll down to Remote Procedure Call Service Check it is "Automatic" Let me know what it is set to. ========== I am away until Monday. Somebody else may pick this up. ============
  20. You could take a look at a VGA to HDMI adapter.
  21. Hi Tom To be blunt .......no. These machines were not designed to be upgraded. I assume that the PSU is not a standard ATX ( square box shape ) ?
  22. Hi and welcome to ExTS I have deleted your other 2 posts - there is only need to post once ...........we will find it :) It sounds as if you have a problem that requires a "return to purchaser". If you have only had the machine for 6 months it should still be under warranty. There are one or two things we could try without affecting the warranty .......... you would need to post this in the Win7 forum. =========== Re your internet connection This confirms that the problem lies with your machine. Start ....type in .....devmgmt.msc ......ENTER Click the > next to "Network Adapters" 1. What is listed? 2. Are there any yellow exclamation marks ? 3. Do you have your machine set to "Obtain IP Address Automatically" ? ======= Try the following: Start > ...type in ......cmd .....right click on cmd.exe that shows top left > Run as Administrator At the prompt type ipconfig /release ( hit ENTER ) [ note - there is a space after ipconfig ] Then type ..... ipconfig /renew Chances are you will get an error message. Let me know the result.
  23. Hi Tom First the bad news ........... with a 200 Watt PSU you are going to be hard pressed to find a video card that will run off it. The manufacturers recommendation ( say 400 Watt ) is assuming that you are going to put the video card under load. If you are not going to run games or graphics intensive software then 400 Watts can come down by a fair bit. I have seen people run video cards at way below the recommended PSU - I wouldn't advise this but it is possible. Some cards only use 75 Watts but this is in addition to your present system requirements. With a Shuttle you are going to be very restricted on space. Take a look here: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp Put in your system details. Leave blank any that do not apply. What does it come out at ?
  24. Hi The router is a Belkan. What shows up in Device Manager ( Realtek ) would be your Wireless Adapter ( there is a difference ) It is up to you.
