  1. OK if it is still a problem let me know the results of post #16
  2. If the connection is dropping from 5 bars to nothing on wireless and you have tried different channels I would suspect a problem with the router and suggest that this needs replacing. I have had this before with my own ( some time back ) and eventually bit the bullet and replaced the router. I have had no problems since. To confirm that it is the router you could ask a friend to connect too. If both drop out at the same time ..... You could try switching the router off - leave for 2 minutes - switch on again. ( I don't really see this solving this particular problem ) One other thing.... You could download the blue wireless test from my signature below and when the machine drops out ---run the test. I would specifically be interested in the results when there is no connection.
  3. If you point the screen curser at the icon bottom right of screen that looks like a monitor how many bars do you get ? If you move away from the router to another room - how many bars now ?
  4. In addition to starbuck's reply: USA have funny rules regarding those frequencies so tend not to advise using them as a general rule ( not knowing where the member lives ) Having said that - I see usmanozzy786 is UK based - so this would not apply :) Also - with selecting either 1, 6 or 11 there is no overlap of channel frequency so if there is radio interference on, say channel 1, there is a good chance - if you select channel 6 or 11 that the problem will not be there.
  5. I don't stream a lot of live stuff ( or anything if I am honest ) but 4Mb/s will not stream efficiently in my opinion. Use this link to confirm your speed http://www.speedtest.net/ Wait for the "Begin Test" to appear.
  6. Hi, I have my router set to channel 6. I would suggest either 6 or 11 ( you can select any in between if you wish ) There is no specific channel that it should be set to. If you find that wireless connectivity is a problem change the channel number - but don't go above 11.
  7. Hi that sounds a bit drastic - but it should solve your problem. Did you have anything on the drive that needed backing up ? If so - you need to contact him before he wipes the drive
  8. I am adding this - more as a note to myself ..... The Wireless Zero Service is not running ( wireless connection will not be available without this ) Stay with starbuck and get the all clear before we continue.
  9. Hi I have deleted the latest log that you posted as it was exactly the same as the first. I should have asked you to download the Wireless Test whilst connected with the cable then disconnect the cable and run the test software. I want to compare the two. =============== Also .....start > type in .....devmgmt.msc .....Enter Click the + next to Network Adapters. Please post what is listed. Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ? =============== If this is a laptop - is the wireless switch in the ON position ?
  10. Give it a go. I recently did this for my sister and it solved her problems :) Now that you have access to the router software please be careful if you decide to change anything else.
  11. Can you change it to 11 - if no better try 6. It could be radio interference from a neighbour / your house phones if they are not permanently wired.
  12. Hi This was done with the wired connection by the looks of it. What does this look like if you do it wireless ( no wired connection ) Clicl on Wireless Test below.
  13. Post them here - there is nothing personal I will ask one of our security guys to advise you further if necessary regarding the malware issue.
  14. Hi again Try this: Click on the Internet Explorer icon ( as if you were going on the net ) In the address bar ( where it says http//www. ........) delete everything there and type in: 192.168.0.1 ......hit Enter You should be prompted for a login and password This should be login = admin ...........password = sky Let me know if you can access the router software. ============= There should be a label on the back of the router telling you the make and model
  15. I think this is related to your router ........ It could possibly be the channel it is broadcasting on. Do you know how to change this? What is the make and model number of the router ?
  16. Hi Is this the only pc connected to the network ? Do other PCs drop the connection ? I have had this before and it has been the router at fault.
  17. Hi and welcome to ExTS Did you have help to get rid of the malware or did you just rely on MBAM and your AV ? ============= Please try an ethernet cable direct to the router and let me know if you can access the net this way ============= Please click on the orange Network Test in my signature ( bottom of this post ) You will need to save it to a memory stick (or run it from the wired connection) and run the software from there. Copy and post the result here please.
  18. Just read this - don't know how I| missed it !! You may still need starbuck to take a look at your system. MBAM would have produced a log. Can you copy this and post it here please ?
  19. That is worth a try - I would be interested to know the results.
  20. Thanks for the feedback :)
  21. Hi Good to hear that you solved the problem yourself. :) Could you give us an outline how you did it so that others may benefit please ?
  22. Hi What you have is an on-board Network Adapter. ( attached directly to the motherboard ) You do have empty PCI slots ( The white ones at the bottom of the right hand pic ) You could try a PCI NIC card ( previous post ) Alternatively you could borrow one or ask at a small pc repair shop if they have a used one you could buy cheap to try. We are running out of options and really need to take the NIC out of the equation or confirm that it is at fault. =========== You have a big build-up of dust that needs cleaning away. I would do this outside. Can of compressed air ( any computer shop ) or a soft brush. Pay particular attention to the fans and vents.
  23. There is a post above to read too :) Start > Run ....type in ....devmgmt.msc ....Enter Click the + next to Network Adapters > right click on device > uninstall Reboot the computer. Windows will find "New Hardware" and should re-install the drivers. Check again in device manager. I will pick this up again tomorrow :)
  24. They are replaceable - quite cheaply. click here I did suggest that you try it in a different slot on the motherboard. Is this possible?. We can also try deleting the drivers and re-installing from device manager.
  25. Take a look here: ( Start > Control Panel ) [TABLE=class: numberedList] [TR] [TD=class: listNumber, align: right]1.
