  1. Hi Rosmon If this is what I think it is ......you have reset the Router to default settings ( out of the box ). Is this the 192.168.0.1 to get to the router software ? If you are using the CD to set up your connection I think the username and password asked for will be the one provided by your ISP not the one on the router - unless it is the access to the router software password and username. Who is your Internet Provider ? With your wired connection: Start ......type in .....cmd ......do not hit ENTER Right click on cmd.exe that appears top left of screen > Run as Administrator When the prompt appears type in .... ipconfig /all ( there is a space after ipconfig ) ......hit ENTER Top left of this screen is a small black icon .......right click on this. Highlight EDIT > Select All Right click on the icon again > EDIT > COPY Paste it here in your next reply.
  2. As I have already said ........I am not an iTune user. I will ask the other Mods to see if they can offer an idea or two :)
  3. Not really - you just have a different browser :) There is still a problem with IE - but if you are happy with SR-Iron that's ok :)
  4. Hi Rosmon Did you get a set-up CD with this router ? The manual for the router is here: ( may need it later ) click here The password you are using - where did you get this from ? Username ? Are you trying to enter the router software ?
  5. Hi I am not a user of iTunes. You could try a System Restore to a date just prior to installing the updated software. Start > type in .....system restore .....ENTER Select an appropriate date - not the oldest. There may be an option to see restore points older than ....... tick the box if you need to go back further.
  6. As far as I am aware - Win7 comes with IE8 or IE9. IE6 is from XP days. Let us know how you get on with SR-Iron. This is a basic browser ( I am using it at the moment )
  7. Logmein is a piece of software that you install on the host computer. You can the access that computer from any other computer - anywhere. You need your email address and a password to do so.
  8. Hi and welcome to ExTS You have IE6 with Win7 ?? Please confirm your Operating System. Have you tried another browser? ( you can have 2 or more on your system at the same time :) ) Take a look at this one - just to try. http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php
  9. Hi This explains it quite well
  10. You accessed the internet with this machine for about an hour. This is long enough for updates - including the Validation Tool from MS - to be installed on your machine. This would check that the installed OS had been validated as genuine. If you are being asked to validate then the original installer didn't do this for some reason. There is no way around this. You need the Product Key ( 25 character ) that came with the installation disk. This is usually on a sticker on the side of the case. Failing that - a phone call to MS.
  11. If you are re-installing the best option is to format then install. XP has a Repair Install option that you may wish to try. Using this retains your installed software / files / photos etc. see here If you have data on the drive that you need - back this up first.
  12. Start > type in ...devmgmt.msc .....ENTER Click the + next to keyboards Right click on the keyboard > Update Drivers Search Automatically ( you need internet access ) Failing that - uninstall Switch off then re-boot. Windows should find the "new" hardware and install the drivers for it.
  13. I have used / still have Logmein. I have had it a while - I think you only get a trial version now ...........pay after 2 weeks or so. I accessed my computer in UK from Atlanta USA. The home computer has to be on with internet access and logmein software running. Once in - you have full access to software and settings.
  14. Hi Ray Thanks for the feedback. The £25 was not too bad considering :)
  15. Hi and welcome from me too If you just want data off the drive then an IDE to USB adapter can be found quite cheaply. You could, however, add the drive to an enclosure ( caddy ) as Nev has explained. This way you gain an external hard drive. It will not be very big ( capacity wise ) but would do for photos etc. There is no guarantee that you will be able to access the drive but from your description the odds are very good.
  16. Yes Sue - very well thank you :) Let us know how you get on with that software - I have not used it personally. Suggest that you use it on a drive that you are not too bothered about first.
  17. Hi and welcome to ExTS You can use any OS disk provided that it is exactly the same as the one you are repairing. e.g. Vista Home Premium. If it is Win7 you can d/l a copy from Digital River http://kenspchelp.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=503
  18. Hi Sue Try TrueCrypt - see below click here
  19. Sorry - forgot you were on XP. Have you sorted it ? I don't think changing the wired to auto would have solved your wireless problem.
  20. Hi Dan Good to hear that your system is up and running again :) Could you please start a new thread with your external drive problem. It is easier for other members who are searching for answers to similar problems.
  21. When you fitted the m/board did you use the stand-offs ? Just to be sure - unscrew the m/board and sit it on a piece of card to insulate it from the case. Switch on Do you still get the same problem ? Are all of the components new ? ( apart from the case - not sure why you are using one that was dumped in the street ?? )
  22. Hi Is the WLAN Autoconfig Service started and automatic ? Start > type in ....services.msc .......ENTER scroll down the list to find WLAN Autoconfig If not automatic then right click on it > Properties Set the Startup Type to Auto > OK
  23. Hi and welcome to ExTS Start .....type in ....services.msc .....ENTER scroll down and look for VAIO Event Service If it is there it should be started and automatic.
  24. Hi and welcome to ExTS So - you want to use another IDE HDD on the IDE cable originally used by the zip drive ? I can see no reason why you can't do this. Do you have a slot for the HDD ? - not that it really matters
  25. unlikely. How do you connect to the net when you need to ? I am assuming that this is a broadband connection - is it ? Do you have the monitor icon in the bottom right of your screen ?
