  1. Is this a company network that you are accessing ? If so it could be a setting created by the IT Techs to stop large downloads.
  2. Hi BeeJay Good to hear that you are sorted with your printer. You should be able to run both now :)
  3. The drivers for your machine are here: click here You will need to know if your Operating System is 32 or 64 bit. Ask if unsure :)
  4. Hi and welcome to ExTS You should not need to uninstall the Canon software to add the HP. You can have 2 or more installed at the same time. Disconnect the Canon lead from the pc. Do not connect the HP printer. Put the CD in the drive and you should be prompted when to connect the lead. Let us know what happens at this point.
  5. Does it drop the connection if you try using an ethernet cable ?
  6. Hi and welcome to ExTS I know there were d/l limits built into IE6 / 7 The limits were 2GB for IE6 and 4GB for IE7 I doubt that this would cause your connection to drop. Which browser are you using ? What is the speed of your connection? http://www.speedtest.net/
  7. There are 4 drivers listed here http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=3921 What does it say in Device Manager ? Your "Wireless Device" cannot communicate with the router.
  8. Hi I have deleted the attachment as you instructed us to ignore it :) I assume that this is with the wireless USB adapter removed ? Did you run the ping 127.0.0.1 with the USB adapter removed? Were the results as posted earlier - 4 packets sent and received ....no losses ? I said in post #11 This could still be the case. ============== With the USB adapter out .... go back to the command prompt and type .... ping 127.0.0.1 then type .... ping 192.168.1.1 Should get 4 packets sent / received no losses in each case.
  9. It is possible - that is why I asked you to go through the ipconfig /release etc. I would like to see two ipconfig /all results. One with the working wireless adapter and the other with the USB adapter taken out.
  10. That is the correct path - yes. With the cable disconnected: Start > ....type in .....cmd .......do not hit ENTER Right click on cmd.exe top left of screen > Run as Administrator At the prompt type in ipconfig /flushdns (note there is a space after ipconfig) Then type ipconfig /release Then .......ipconfig /renew At the prompt type .....ipconfig /all Copy this and paste it here. (you can connect the cable to do this)
  11. If this is the case then it is unlikely to be a router problem unless ........ I assume that you have not checked in the router software that the channel is set to 11 or less as synapse suggested ? Do you know how to do this ? The fault could lie with your internal wireless adapter however the ping 127.0.0.1 confirmed that it can be communicated with. Do you know how to check if "Obtain IP and DNS Automatically " are checked ?
  12. With the Cable disconnected ... Start > ...type in ......cmd ......DO NOT hit ENTER right click on cmd.exe that appears top left of screen > Run as Administrator At the command prompt ( black screen ) type ..... ping 127.0.0.1 (space after ping) You should get 4 packets sent and 4 received - no losses. let me know the results.
  13. Hi I think it is more normal for everything to shut down - but I have come across this before. How are you shutting down ? Check your Power Settings Start > Control Panel > Power Options Look for "Choose What the Power Buttons Do"
  14. Hi, This is because your Power Supply Unit is still supplying power to your motherboard. To turn the USB ports off ( mouse too ) you will need to ensure that the machine is turned off at the wall so that no power gets to the PSU. There may be a setting in the BIOS.
  15. Hi, Try channel 11 or 7 - this seems to be the default for most.
  16. I think yours may be Fn + F3 A red indicates that the device is off.
  17. It could be a very simple "fix" - let us know :)
  18. Re: Post #4 I did consider banning you - but as you are obviously young I thought better of it. Your link was deleted because it could have contained a virus - we don't know as you are new to these forums. Live links in posts are always treated with suspicion. BeeCeeBee As I have deleted the text from post #4 I have taken the liberty of editing the quote from your post. Kaytie-Ari If I have to spend time editing another of your posts I am afraid it will be your last. I am allowing you to stay on the forums but please post sensibly. You obviously have some experience - why not use it to help others in the forums ?
  19. Hi What is the wattage of the PSU that you have ? The minimum for this card is 300W How much RAM do you have ? It could be a return to supplier for a replacement.
  20. Did you try this? Remove the coin shaped battery from the motherboard for 1 minute - then replace.
  21. Hi and welcome to ExTS Silly question - is the wireless switch on ? On my Acer it is at the back of the keyboard near the screen.
  22. Hi and welcome to ExTS Was it tested under load ? Also - you say that the problem is random. It could be that the PSU was behaving itself when under test. The easiest way to decide if it is your PSU or not is to swap it for a known good one. Do you have a spare - or can you borrow one ?
  23. Hi Do you pay BT for the line rental or does Virgin take care of this? Either way - you need to ask for a line check to your property. Use this speed check and record the download / upload speed. http://www.speedtest.net/ Make a note of the time and date. You need about 6 readings throughout the day. Do you have filters on all devices ( including Sky ) fitted to phone sockets ? I know in your fibre-optic connection the filter may be built into the box on the wall - you could overlook the need for a filter in the new property. Is the connection good if you are wired direct to the router via an ethernet cable ? You need to record speedtest results with this too.
  24. Hi and welcome to ExTS Take the Video Card and the RAM out. Switch on with these items missing. Does the Beep Code change ? The code you describe is, depending on the BIOS chip, either Video or Memory related. Try putting Video Card and RAM back in - unscrewing the m/board from the case and sitting it on a piece of card to insulate it. Switch on. What is the result?
