  1. Good to hear that you are up and running again :)
  2. We don't give up that easily :) Have you completely removed AVG ( no bad thing ) ? Did you restart the pc after the winsock reset ?
  3. Thanks Nev :) ShowerF-A_H Let us know how Safe Mode etc went please.
  4. I found a thread that was exactly the same as yours - the problem was the AV ( McAfee in this case ) It is worth a try. Disable AVG http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_5052104_disable-avg-antivirus.html
  5. Can you disable your AV and try connecting ? Which AV do you have ?
  6. Hi Richard and welcome to ExTS I have no experience of wireless cameras ....... so advice will be limited. Does this help at all ?
  7. The "STOP ERROR" message should be on the Blue Screen that you get
  8. Did you try this from the elevated command prompt ?... Then type .....netsh winsock reset Then type .....netsh int ip reset After this type .....ipconfig /renew
  9. it sounds as if McAfee is out of date. When you sort this problem dump McAfee and install MS Essentials ( free ) In fact it may be worth dumping McAfee and putting Essentials on to see what that finds. (one of our security experts will advise further after you post the MBAM results)
  10. Hi and welcome to ExTS Often with a Blue Screen you get a STOP ERROR similar to this: STOP 0x0000000A (0xBFD14AAC, 0x000000FF, 0x00000000, 0x8000F67C) If you do - could you post this please as it may point us in the right direction. Switch off and re-boot. Constantly tap F8 about once per second You will see the Advanced Startup Options Select Safe Mode Does your machine crash using this ? Also from the list try "Last Known Good Configuration" Let us know how you get on.
  11. Spybot is anti-malware software ( not particularly good ) that is past it's sell-by date. I don't think it would be the cause of your problem though. Your Hosts file is OK. Start > type in ...cmd .....> Run as Administrator ( as before ) At the prompt type in ....ipconfig / release Then type ......ipconfig /renew (space after ipconfig) Then type ....ipconfig /flushdns Then type .....netsh winsock reset Then type .....netsh int ip reset Try the connection wired with the cable. ============= Start > Control Panel > Network & Sharing Right click on "Local Area Connection" > Properties Uncheck .......(TCP/IPv6) > OK Then go back .... Click on TCP/IPv4 (this should have a check in the box) > Properties Is "Obtain and IP Address ..." and "Obtain DNS Server ..." checked? If not - what is there ? ================= Try disabling the firewall.
  12. Try a system restore to a date just before the start of the problem. Start > .....type in ....system restore ....Enter If an appropriate date is not shown tick the box to show other dates. Your files / data etc will be fine. ============= Check the following services are set correctly: DNS Client = auto Network Connections = manual Network List = Auto Network Location = Auto Network Store Interface = Auto These are the important two .... Wired Auto Config = manual WLAN Auto Config = Auto ============= Check the hosts file: Start > Computer > C: > Windows > System32 > drivers > etc > hosts ( not hosts.txt ) Open it in Notepad. Copy and paste it here please.
  13. can you post the next STOP Error message that you get please ?
  14. Hi and welcome. Not familiar with this specific drive but you say ,,, If you didn't set one - what happens if you leave both blank ?
  15. Those temps are OK too. Did you take a look at the "Can I Play it" link ?
  16. Hi, Try turning "Password Protected Sharing" ON see here
  17. Take a look here and see if your system can run the games you are trying to play. click here Those temps are fine - did you take them when trying to play a game or when idle ?
  18. Hi and welcome to ExTS. Oh dear .......this is probably the culprit. We never advise using Registry Cleaners for this very reason .....they do more harm than good. If other devices are OK then it must be your machine. start > type in ......cmd ....( do not hit Enter ) Right click on cmd.exe that shows top left of screen > run as Administrator At the prompt type .......ping 127.0.0.1 (space after ping ) You should get 4 packets sent / received and no losses. Do you ?
  19. Vr5fx is correct - you need to get anything off the hard drive that is needed whilst you can. Make this a priority.
  20. There doesn't appear to be a HDMI connection on that machine. I have a Acer 5735 - it is an old machine ( 5 years ) I have a VGA connection but the problem with this is you get no sound from the TV.
  21. Hi and welcome to ExTS Your pc is just over a month old. You need to contact the company again as it will still be under warranty. You also need to be careful what you do as you could invalidate the warranty. I don't advise going inside the case for instance. Have you added any hardware / software just before the start of your problem ? One thing you can try is a System Restore. Start > type in ......system restore ......Enter Click on "Next" You will see 5 dates - there is an option to see dates older if you check the box. (no files / data will be lost) Select a date just before the start of your problem. ( assuming that it actually did work properly at one time ) Also ..........if the above doesn't work for you ... Download Speccy from here: http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download Install and run it. Post the temperature results here.
  22. Hi I assume that you have tried "Last Known Good Configuration" from the F8 route ? When you get to these options - is "Repair this Computer" one of them? (if you have a Recovery Partition it should be) If it is - give it a go.
  23. Hi and welcome to ExTS Can you post the STOP Error Code (0x0000000*) etc next time it appears please ? Can you boot up in Safe Mode? Switch on and constantly tap F8 about once per second.
  24. I must admit - I lake the versatility of a laptop. There is no set time limit I am afraid. As with all electrical devices - they can last for years or be a problem as soon as you take them out of the box. The laptop I am using has given me no problems in 5 years or so. That seems a good price for that laptop - and 6GB RAM is much better than 4GB. I did find that it was £499-99 on Amazon and has been reduced. With regards to screen - they are much the same. Keyboards can be different - and laptops do take a bit of getting used to. When I first got this one I used to plug a mouse in as I didn't like the touch-pad. You get used to it.
  25. Hi and welcome to ExTS :)
