Hi The manual for your machine is here: click here It describes how to change the Boot Sequence. You need to press F12 ( according to the manual ) It is normally F2 or DEL which is why I suggested F2 earlier. Check to see if the Floppy Drive is before the Hard Drive ( HDD ) if it is change it to: CDROM HDD other ....your choice

Hi What did you get? 1 x 2GB or 2 x 1GB ? Is the machine running any better ? Start > My Computer > Right click on C:\ > Properties What is the size of the Hard Drive ..........and How much Free Space do you have ?

If the router has been set-up downstairs and computers can connect to the internet OK then there should not be a problem with a wired connection. Can you connect to the internet using the router - even from downstairs ?

The power rating of the PSU would have no bearing on the initial boot up. Also - with the CDROM connected you are using the molex power connection and there was no problem. Not until the HDD is connected. All things point to the HDD. You could take it to a local tech ( phone for a price first ) and have him test it. This is a quick test - he should do it for free.

I think that covers all of the options - it looks like there is a short on the HDD's circuit board. With the data cable disconnected there is no direct link to the m/board - so this is ok. You have tried different molex connections - so that would seem to be ok It is only when you connect power to the HDD. I don't suppose you have another drive to try do you ?

I am sorry - one of us should have noticed and moved your posts to their own thread - which is what I have just done :) You are using F-F Try running in Safe Mode and see if this is any better. click here Have you tried a different browser ?

Something is shorting it out. Take the data connection off it ( leave the molex power connection ) and try again. Let me know the result. If you get the same problem try a different molex power connection from your PSU. Again - post back. Also disconnect the CDROM again and use the IDE connection that was connected to the CDROM for the HDD. Is there any difference? I assume that the HDD jumper is set to the "Master" position ?

Your IDE data cable - does it look like this? http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/operab/2012-03-25_213815_master-slave-ide.gif If so - connect up as shown. Make sure the jumper in the HDD is set to "Master" and the CDROM is set to slave.

Do you know which suggestion worked for you ? Squeeze away :) Try F-F again with add-ons disabled. If it is opening faster - try enabling them one at a time until you find the problem one.

Without the DVD Drive and the HDD the system is stable. If this is correct then connect the DVD drive. Is the system stable now? If so - connect the HDD. If the system crashes then there is a problem with the HDD. Try swapping the data cable / power connection.

How? I have downloaded the manual for this apparatus and there is no reference to connecting to the internet at all. How many computers have a working internet access ? What are they connected to?

Hi and welcome to ExTS Your thread title implies that the system will only run if the m/board is the only hardware connected. Your post suggests that it is the HDD that is the cause of the problem. Did you have RAM / DVD Drive / Video Card etc plugged in - but no hard drive - ? Which is it ?

Graphics Cards - depending on which one - can max at around 100C but it is hot. If there is dust this can cause overheating. use a soft brush or preferably a can of compressed air. use short bursts as the propellant forms a liquid if used for a long time. Leaving the machine on will not normally cause the card to heat up.

Hi and welcome to ExTS I would be inclined to connect the drive to another system either via its data cable and a power connection or by using a HDD to USB adapter. If using an adapter this would need to be compatible with the drive ( 2.5 inch / SATA ? ) IDE [ broad data cable ] is an older option. You could use a caddy ( external enclosure ) if you have one. Then go into Disk Management and format the drive again ( NTFS ) Pop it back in the machine again and try the install over again.
