1. We had a good one thaks DSTM :) J-B - good to see you posting again .....:) :)
2. Hi Matt This is a little late - as you have already started your thread, but welcome for a second time :)
3. Hi and welcome to ExTS If you have not got an internal speaker there will be no POST beeps - which is a pity. New m/board ......new PSU ...... you should get something on screen. Have you connected the monitor to another machine to make sure that it is still OK ? You can have too much thermal paste on the CPU - this could be why it is luke warm. It should get hot. The thermal paste should only be the size of a pea then spread evenly with something like a credit card. With only the monitor connected - no RAM / hard drive / etc etc you should get something on screen. If not - take another look at the CPU and the thermal paste. You will have to clean off the old stuff with something like rubbing alcohol from a pharmacy. Let us know the results of the above please.
4. I hope you had a good Christmas J-B and DSTM I will take another look at the snow - see if I can drum up a blizzard :)
5. Hi Bringe As you have posted this in the XP forum I will assume that the OS that you have cloned is XP. XP is not very adaptable when installed in another system. There is usually a driver problem and the OS will not boot up. The only possibility if you are doing this, is if the motherboard is exactly the same. If, however, you have a full installation XP disk, you can do a Repair Install to correct this problem. As you suggest - it is there because the cloned drive is bigger than the original. The "unallocated" space is the section of the drive that has not been formatted. At the moment it cannot be read by the Operating System and therefore cannot be used. It is no detriment to the drive and will not cause any problems. It can be formatted and incorporated into either of the existing partitions using software that is freely available. ( EaseUs) Hope this helps ?
6. Hi and welcome to ExTS I am not familiar with Stereoscopic 3D - but does this help at all ? - click here
7. Hi and welcome to ExTS I see you have posted this problem elsewhere :) mfeelamk.sys seems to be linked with McCaffee and Syscore in particular. Please try the following: Win 8 goes through the initial boot process very quickly so you may have to try this a few times ... Switch on and hold the SHIFT key down whilst you tap ( very quickly ) F8 This should take you into the Advanced Boot Options. This article may help too - click here If you can get to this then try "Safe Mode" to see if it will boot up.
8. Happy Christmas to all of our members and visitors.
9. If you have the installation disk and original product code then you should simply be able to install in the usual way. If the activation gets rejected a call to Microsoft should sort it. They will allocate a new product code. This may help - click here
10. Hi Bob No luck here I am afraid :( The only errors that were around the time that you tried the install again ( after 11-00 am when I posted ) are below: EON Energy Fit would seem to be your energy supplier ...so this must be their software ( unrelated to SP1 I would have thought ) This error timed at 12-39 The other is Windows Search Service - again unrelated to installing This error timed at 1-15 Out of interest - do either of these times coincide with the time you were attempting to install SP1 ? =================== Yes - as long as you are booted up into Windows. Go to Start > and right click on the DVD CDROM > Explore
11. Hi Bob No - I am still here :) Please download "MiniToolbox" from here - click here Save it to your Desktop. Then .... Please try the installation of SP1 again. Immediately after you get the error ( there is no rush ....just don't leave it for a day ) run MiniToolbox. Put a tick next to "Last 10 Event Viewer Errors" and "Mini Dump Files" Then click "Go" It will create a log in Notepad. Copy this and post it here please. It may give us a clue as to why the installation failed. ======================= EDIT: What is the ISO disk that you have ? You run sfc /scannow from a command prompt. Start > type in ........cmd .......do not hit Enter yet. Left side of screen at the top should be cmd.exe .....right click on this .....click on "Run as Administrator"
12. You are welcome :)
13. Hi Take a look here - click here
14. Hi Bob Try this for me please: ( I know we have done this before ) Restart the machine twice - then .... Disable your A-Virus and Firewall Using the download SP1 on the desktop try to install again. If you get an error code just let me know which one - no need for an image. Don't forget to enable your AV and Firewall again :)
15. That's interesting ..... things may have moved on a bit ( hopefully ) I will get back to you over this error message after I find out what it is all about :)
16. Sorry Bob ...it is my turn to be confused now. Update error code 80010108 .............when did this occur? I thought that your original error was 80004005. I only see one image.
17. Sorry Bob - I missed your second image. That is interesting ..........you have the file on your system albeit an earlier version of what was suggested in the MS article. Have you tried the "fix" that they suggested ? click here One drawback .....Windows Live Mail may not start after installing. You don't use this do you ? ( email ) you use gmail. Suggest you create a Restore Point before you do this .....just in case. This is a registry backup.
18. Hi, In a word - yes. You will find that some websites require it too. It is a form of programming language - if Hotmail, for instance, has used it then, if you haven't got it, Hotmail will not be able to function properly on your machine. Java is not Javascript. One of the security guys will give you better info re Java ...basically if you have it on your system you should keep it up to date for security reasons. I hope this helps a little ?
19. Hi Bob That article seems to suggest that SP1 would not be offered if those conditions were on your system If I understand, from what we have done so far, you get as far as trying to install SP1 and it fails. However, let's take a look at some of the suggestions. What have you done ( from the last link ) so far ? Have you gone into DirectX ( dxdiag ) and checked that you do not have Igdkmd32.sys on your machine ? This would seem to be the most likely. ======================= You can download the file itself and save it. This way all you have to do it click on it to attempt to install - you don't have to wait ages for it to download each time. Go here - click here Instead of selecting "Run" click on "Save As" save it to your desktop. You need to click "Download" then scroll down to find windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe at the bottom of the list Put a tick in the box and save this to your desktop. When you want to try installing SP1 again - just double click the SP1 File ( desktop )
20. Can you not download the file and keep it on your desktop ?
21. Have you tried SP1 since you installed IE9 ? Just a thought :) Also ....there is a "FixIt" here - click here Have you tried this ?
22. You did say that earlier Bob .....thanks :) I will carry on looking .....
23. You may be right Nev - well spotted. Bob could have clicked the wrong one ( WSDAPI ) and gone back to Windows Updates :)
24. I cannot tell a lie .............it was me :) It is not a waste of time Bob ..... I would like to see an answer as much as you. Did IE9 install OK ? When you tried to install SP1 - did you get an error message or did it just hang ?
25. Hi Bob I didn't think you would have "Do not allow SP" on your system .....but it was worth looking :) I am now running out of ideas. I know you don't want to do a complete re-install. I will do some more digging :)
