When I now load Word all I get is a dialogue box telling me that the information is on the install disc, but its not. It gives me the propt, " the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM that is not available. Insert the "Microsoft Office 2000 Proffesional Disk and click OK I did and then all I get is "fatal error during installation and it crashes. This has only happened since an automatic update to Vista in early March and now I cant get wWord to work as I think it can't find Documents and Settings which seems to have been removed in the update. What do I do. I have tried reloading Office and it still will not work. Help View this thread

My computer says I need to reinstall the program. Is it safe to just find it on the web and reinstall? I can't send via Outlook, access kasperski or use any browser other than Google. View this thread

When I try to shut down computer it says downloading 1 of 8 Updates but they don't get downloaded. When turning on computer i hand to do it manually same as shutting down. I get e-mail in Microsoft so I can't open them either. View this thread

I keep getting a critical update called Definition Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB2310138 (Definition 1.147.330.0) that uploads and makes all my font turn to 00000000 I can not get rid of the update and am running out of restore dates, what can I do? Hi there, I need some help with a nasty and potentially dangerous toolbar that self-installed when I downloaded a freeware program. It is called the mixi.dj toolbar and it hijacked my default Google Chrome browser. I tried everything to get rid of this nasty demon, but nothing seems to work. I have not used this toolbar and as soon as it shows up, I open up another tab which brings me to Google. Any help would be very much appreciated. View this thread

MSE install gives error code 0X8004FF56, computer runs Vista Home Basic 32 bit, have tried clearing all but MS services running and start up menu, nothing enables install of MSE, followed all steps at http://www.microsoft.com/mk-mk/security_essentials/Support/cf5220bd-3da8-4694-ac42-f5396ef5ff0b.aspx; I had MSE running but it wouldn't do the program software update being pushed by the Auto Update program. Tried to install Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista (KB2809289) and it failed several times. Error details: Code 8E5E03FA. Tried to disable firewall and antivirus, didn't help, also tried to download the update and install it in safe mode, didn't help as well. Tried to run Microsoft Fix It, no luck either. My Bitdefender Virus Vulnerability scan tells me that I need an important Windows update: Microsoft Silverlight (KB2814124). However, no matter what I try, this update fails to download and install. I've used the Microsoft "FIX IT" tool and it seems to be correcting things (registry changes, etc.) , but when I run Microsoft updates again, this update fails to install. Is it possible that I may have inadvertently uninstalled a Microsoft Silverlight update when I uninstalled some junk programs from the "Uninstall or Change a Program"? I'm at a loss what to do. Hello, when I boot up my netbook asus 1201n, Windows 8 pro starts as usual. But after showing the loginscreen I get an alternating black and grey screen. I can hear (and see at the led) the hard drive working, but besides the alternating screens, noting happens. After days of determining the problem (and reinstalling Windows 5 times) I found update KB2809289 to be the cause. All other recent updates can be installed without problems.I ignore this specific update for now, but would like to install it for security reasons. Also I am afraid to install coming updates as I don't know whether it will be causing problems or not. I found it particularly difficult to restore Windows when this problem arose (especially without the possibility to start Windows 8 in safe-mode). I have to reinstall Windows every time when I encounter those alternating screens, so that's a lot of hassle. So a solution for this problem would be greatly appreciated. View this thread

Even with Norton turned off it doesn't update so i have no idea what the problem is. A friend of mine told me to, run “Ping download.microsoft.com” and i get this reply "Ping request could not find host download.microsoft.com. Please check the name and try again."
