I have the same issue .....I've been trying to install MSE but every time I install it, I get, "File Is Currupt". I click OK, and it closes. this happens every time. Any suggestions???? View this thread

I'm trying to download security essentials but keep getting the error message file is corrupt. I've already uninstalled my old virus software and rebooted the computer and yes I am trying to install the correct version. I have windows 7 Home Premium service pack 1 64 bit operating system. When I go to the Windows Security Center the automatic updates button if showing it is off. The directive is to go to the Security Center and set it to put the auto update in on position. I,ve followed the dirctions but then when I recheck the status the auto update is still in an off position. My fear is that my computer is vulnerable as advised by the warning that I get when I sign on the internet. View this thread

I recieved error message 0x8007005 which I know to be ACCESS DENIED on the following updates to my system today: KB2778344 KB2799494 KB2802968 KB2780091 I have admin rights, I have disabled ESET security prior to the download and I have tried 3x to download and have installed the Microsoft Fix-it tool but no success. I have looked at the other fixes associated with this but most revolve around VISTA and W7. Any apply specifically to XP? Thanks for your help -R View this thread

I have a new Samsung all in one computer. Windows 8 is the operating system.It came with Windows defender as well as Norton installed on the system. The system crashed and I did a system recovery but now both Norton & Windows Defender are both turned off and I can't turn them on. I don't care about Norton but want Window defender. I recently baught a MSI Ge70 laptop and Windows 8 has been the bane of my life. Everytime i try to restart / shut down, It wants to configure Windows features. It'll stick on 15% for about 20minutes and then do something, When it loads back up, it'll stick on 35% for what feels like an eternity. I've checked and all updates are installed, I've also spent time checking the forums for a solution, Any idea what might be causing this because it's starting to become an issue. Thanks in advance! Hello.I have downloaded and installed the driver updates available on the manufacturer website for my machine. In Windows Update under Optional updates, it lists the same drivers, but they have different release dates than on the manufacturer website. How can Windows have different drivers than the manufacturer? Is there a way to know the version number of the drivers in Windows update to see if they are the same as the manufacturer?Thanks. Hello, I have been unable to download any updates for over a year. I have window 7 (64 bit I think). Each time I try to update I get 8008005 and it can't identify anything. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Even system restore isnt an option as it is over a year ago so it is not available. Cleaned registry etc but nothing seems to work so far. After installing new Win7 Proffesional 64-bit HP desktop and downloading all windows updates I have "little" problem with Word 2010. My default keyboard input language is Serbian (Latin) and I can not start typing in Word with serbian (or other slavic) specific latin alphabet character like š,đ,č,ć... I can use that characters only if I first type stanard english latin character. First I tried "everything"...reinstalling Office....repair Offic, Run sfc /scannow ( its ok). Then I installed Office 2007 and afterthen Office 2003 and the same problem was there! Then I reinstalled Win7 with HP recovery option and install Office 2010 SP1. There was no problem anymore. After downloading all windows and office updates, same problem is there again.Problem is 99% with some windows update. I bought this computer brand new 3 days ago . Windows 8 was installed and I am getting the system service exception error while looking at files on my flash drive . Why is this happening when I did not make any changes ? And while I am here , will the flash player issues ever be resolved ?
