I haven't been able to do any windows updates for a few years now and don't know why. Many times it gies me the error code 800F0900 and i tried downloading the fix it help, but it didn't solve the problem. help please View this thread

I moved about eight months ago and I accidentally left my laptop behind, I just recently got it back and there are ~80 updates needing to be installed. When I open Windows Update and click download updates it just sits there with the bar going and says "0 Kb 0% downloaded" and will never download anything. I've tried it multiple times. I tried Windows Update Troubleshooter and it said it changed something, after that I tried selecting only one update instead of all 80 and it downloaded just fine. so I went and selected the rest of them and it is still doing the same thing and not downloading anything. I also tried the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and every time I run it I get an error saying its not compatible with my system, make sure I've downloaded the right version... I thought maybe I had some sort of hijackware/malware so I downloaded it on another computer and transferred it to this computer and it still says the same thing, I couldn't ever find a page with download links for different systems. I also thought maybe it was my AV software blocking it for some reason so I disabled that and tried with no luck. my AV was very outdated when I got my computer back but the first site I went to was to pay for a new year of AV service, and I've always had an AV since I got thsi computer so I doubt its a virus/Malware problem, but still not ruling it out. I went to microsoft's homepage and then looked for microsoft security essentials and downloaded the 64-bit version for windows 7. During the install it is extracting files and then pops up with a box saying file is corrupted. I didn't change the file I simply downloaded it and tried both run and save to see if the file was being corrupted while it downloaded. Is there a way to get it at the moment I don't have any anti-virus program installed so I don't feel safe browsing the internet for more answers. View this thread

Is there a fix for Security Update for Windows Vista KB2698365? I got error code 800B0100, went to Microsoft site and downloaded the fix System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista and guess what? It still won't download. Did I just spend $35.95 to use CompuClever for nothing??? Is this fixable? or is it hopeless? How important is the particular update? Windows Update fails, ostensibly due to error 0x8DDD0004, but all roads lead to 'Enable the WUWebControl Class add-on'. In my case, unfortunately, this add-on is missing, and none of the MS FixIts or multitudinous threads I've searched address this issue. Concurrent with this problem and possibly related, I am getting the "Svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows" error on startup (Event ID 1103: .NET Runtime Optimization Service (clr_optimization_v2.0.50727_32) - Tried to start a service that wasn't the latest version of CLR Optimization service. Will shutdown). I've had about as much success fixing this as with the update problem -- i.e., none. It should go without saying that meaningful help on either or both of these issues will earn my undying gratitude, but.....meaningful help on either or both of these issues will earn my undying gratitude. I am trying to install Microsoft Security Essentials on a brand new laptop. Every time I try to run the installer, I get a message saying "Extraction Failed - File is Corrupt". I am running Windows 7 64 bit, and my Windows is fully updated. I have made sure to download the correct file for my operating system, my computer did not come with any antivirus software (or free trials) pre-installed, and I have turned off Windows Defender. I am trying to install MS Security Essentials on a new PC. I downloaded the file from a MS website. It downloaded fine. When I clicked on the .exe file it asked if I wanted to allow the program to make changes. I clicked yes. I try to search for updates but I just get an error 8024402c what do i do to apply and search for updates I am using windows 8. Also I finally figured out how to dual boot my computer. When I try to get more than 7 GBs of space on the partition or volumn which ever you call it it wont let me. I have tried all the problem solving help that has been provided. I have also tried cmd and sfc but it says I need to be the aministrator, I am unsure how I can log in as the administrator? I'm refurbing an old laptop (HP Pavilion dv8000) and can not get the audio to work. I have download the drivers from the make of the audio chip on the motherborad, but it still reports not working. The chip is a Realtek AC'97. When I go to the device manager, it I see the new drivers, but no luck loading them. View this thread

I have been running Windows XP pro SP3 for several years but it had become slow. I therefore re-formatted my disk and did a re-install of Windows XP pro SP2 from my legitimate backup CD.
