Since early Feb 13 I have been having issues with my HP5510 Printer, in that it has been removed from my devices list. I tried to re-install the printer driver but that didn't seem to work. Two nights ago I decided to do a System Restore and noticed that there was a REstore Point at 8 Feb 13 and so I restored to that date and hey presto my devices showed my Printer and on test the printer worked. However two nights ago I noticed on shut down some updated were automatically installed. Last night when trying to print my printer wouldn't work and I check my device slist and the printer had gone again. Tonight I did a System estore again and used the 8 Feb 13 date to restore to. However before cliking I noticed that 2 critical updates had occured on 13 Feb 13. I didn't check what they were but I now notice that my Start button shows that there are some updates awaiting to be installed on shut down. I think that when I next boot up my computer I will find that my printer will again have disappeared from the device list. Are these updates knocking off/killing my printer drivers? View this thread

I'm running Windows 7 professional. After the automatic update that was installed on 2/14, I started to bluescreen, particularly when waking up from hibernation. The crash report indicates that kdcom.dll is corrupt.I tried some system-restores which failed, so I formatted my C: drive and did a fresh install of Windows 7. Everything was fine until 133 updates were installed, then the same crashes started again. I plan and re-reinstalling windows 7 and turning off automatic updates as there seems to be an issue with the latest one. My computer is home-built, I7 990extreme chip, Asus MB, and a Nvidia GTX560 GPU.The crash/recovery report contained this:Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: a BCP1: 00000001000000DC BCP2: 0000000000000002 BCP3: 0000000000000001 BCP4: FFFFF80002EA2265 OS Version: 6_1_7600 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 256_1 Startup Repair diagnosis and repair log---------------------------Last successful boot time: ?2/?21/?2013 11:52:50 AM (GMT)Number of repair attempts: 1Session details---------------------------System Disk = DeviceHarddisk0Windows directory = C:WindowsAutoChk Run = 0Number of root causes = 1Test Performed: ---------------------------Name: Check for updatesResult: Completed successfully. I have a Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook, with Windows 7 Home Premium, and every time the computer tells me that Windows has updates available I go through the task of installing them because since I got this computer I've been trying to update the Graphics Driver on it and the system does everything properly than when it finishes downloading the PC prompts me to restart my computer to properly install all updates, when I click restart now the computer does the usual of logging off and shutting down , but than when it loads the OS it takes me to a blue screen than to a black screen telling me to either do a startup repair ( recommended) and a start windows normally if i do windows normally it will just keep taking me to the same screen forcing me to do the startup repair which takes about an hour to complete. My question is why does windows keep doing this? The resolution on this computer is supposed to be 1366 x 768 and it is permanently on 1024 x 768 making the icons flattened and blurry by trying to upgrade the graphics driver the computer goes through the whole process again getting no where!! Since yesterday, whenever I try to download the Microsoft Security Essentials, I can get to the page where I click download. I get the pop up notification to run, save, or save as.. when I select one, I always get this message from multiple computers, on multiple internet connections. I do not have a virus, I use MSE when I do clean installs. The connection to the web is not the problem, nor the ISP. I'm pretty sure the link is down, Please Help. I don't wanna be forced to another anti-virus program. View this thread

I have a 2003 Server which gets it updates from a 2008 WSUS server. Its currently out of date and no matter what I try it seems keep failing to update. I have followed various guides online involving re-registering DLL's, renaming the data store on the server etc. But it will not update. It has Citrix Presentation server running on it so its difficult to find time to take it off-line to test things.... Where do I go from here? Any advice, suggestions gratefully received. Hi Folks, I get error code 643 (unknown error) reported when the system tries to install Security Update for .Net Framework 4: KB 2726428, KB2742595, KB2727019 and KB 2729449. This has been happening for several weeks as the system tries to update immediately following shut down. It always fails and takes around 75 mins to fail. I’ve tried running each update individually, also without success. I’m also suffering a lot of “grey screen” where all windows become unresponsive for several minutes and I eventually turn my laptop off at the power switch. I have McAfee Real time scanning, Firewall and anti spam etc all switched on and I also have MSE Security Essentials loaded – perhaps a conflict? Any ideas? I’m using W7 Home Premium. Thanks and regards, Nigel View this thread

After the updates released on Feb 12, I had 2 computers dead - they would not restart. One was Windows XP and I got it back by selecting "last known working configuration" which was before the windows updates. My other computer is a 1 yr old laptop with Windows 7. I had to do a system Restore to get it back working. I have turned off automatic windows updates on both computers now. I am hesistant to install anymore updates. Is there a known problem with the updates that were just released this month? How can i keep my computers up-to-date without going through this restoring again? View this thread
