OK, I have the challenge question of the day.....Bet I dont get an answer. which would leave me no choice but to wipe it clean and reinstall everything. Here goes. Windows vista Service pack 1 (KB936330) Error code 80071AA7. Already browsed the microsoft help site with no luck. Also would this hinder how slowly web pages load, time out as well as you tube video stops and wont load all content? D.s.l. connection. 32 bit.Plenty of memory Thanks, Bryant View this thread

This is my first official post. I am using windows 7 64 bit SP1 build 7601. I am using IE 9.0.8112.16421 64 bit edition, update version 9.0.13 (KB2792100) I have tried to update MSE several times but each time it failed and i received error code "WindowsUpdate_8004FF84" "WindowsUpdate_dt000". I tried to uninstall MSE several times but it failed each time; it was looking for something called "epp.msi". I downloaded MSE from the Microsoft website again, and tried to install it but again it told me that “epp.msi” was missing. I then used the Microsoft FixIt Tool -http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9748340 – which said the problems had been fixed and then tried remove MSE again but it failed, again! I then restarted. I am still unable to uninstall or update MSE using windows update. What is going on? Where can I find "epp.msi"? please help somebody, this is very frustrating. I have tried to manually uinstall it from the registry but now it still seems to be running even though it has been removed from the progam uninstall list. I am at a loss. please can someone help me. if i have left any information out that is required please just ask. View this thread

keeps failing to install 3 :KB2705219 Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systemsKB2769369 Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systemsKB2647753 Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systemsAfter trying to them, Windows request a restart, after which it says that all 3 updates failed to install and lists them again as available recommended updates. I downloaded the files separately from Microsoft.com and tried to install them individually. Each manual installation failed. The "Fix It" tool is useless as well. What other options do I have? Some of my programs will not run. Specifically, Quicken 2012. View this thread

I had my new desktop PC loaded with the original/base/vanilla version of Windows 7 (so there is no anti-virus program or other anti-malware software installed). As a consequence, I need to download over 150 updates to bring the OS up to the current version. It has always been my understanding that an anti-virus program should be in place before doing any extensive online work, but when I tried to download Microsoft Security Essentials I got a "File Corrupted" message. I’m thinking the lack of updates may be causing the corruption issue, but again, I thought I needed to get an anti-virus program loaded first before running Windows Update (or doing any extensive online work). The Automatic Updates haven't been working lately because my computer's last update was Dec 2012. Therefore I checked the MS website to see if there were any updates needed and ran the manual update. It displayed a list of 17 updates needed but when Install was selected it gave an error that 0 of 17 updates were installed. Problem: A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed Microsoft Windows XP Security Update for Windows XP (KB2758857)Security Update for Windows XP (KB2770660)Update for Windows XP (KB2779562)Security Update for Windows XP (KB2753842)Security Update for Windows XP (KB2757638)Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2742596)Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on Windows XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008 x86 (KB2736416)Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2756918)Update for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (KB2798897)Security Update for Windows XP (KB2778344)Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2792100)Security Update for Windows XP (KB2799494)Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2789643)Security Update for Windows XP (KB2802968)Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2797052)Security Update for Windows XP (KB2780091)Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - February 2013 (KB890830) I tried running the Updates again but had the same problem. Windows Update keeps failing with code 8024402C, on two separate Windows 7 Home Premium machines. I've looked through loads of similar questions here but none of the answers resolves the problem. If I try the Microsoft Fixit, that fails with a code of 80072EE7If I try any manual download of updates or tools from either machine, my browser tells me that it can't find download.microsoft.com.I've gone through the whole of kb2509997. In most cases the suggested methods didn't work. In the remainder, there was a problem following it:running checksur.exe didn't workrunning sfc /scannow didn't workResetting the contents of the catroot2 folder didn't workChecking for incorrect registry values didn't work (the subkey to search didn't exist!)Registering the Windows Update files didn't workMy antivirus software (Bullguard 10) doesn't scan the SoftwareDistribution folderRenaming the SoftwareDistribution folder didn't workClearing the BITS queue didn't workI couldn't find a KB958056 updateI couldn't find a pending.xml - the c:windowswinsxs folder that it's supposed to be in doesn't exist.Running chkdsk didn't workThe fact that it doesn't seem to be able to find download.microsoft.com suggests to me that it's a DNS problem. But another machine running XP Professional (luckily!) doesn't encounter the same problems. This is connecting through the same broadband router and has the same firewall and antivirus software (Bullguard) so it can't be a firewall issue, either at the Bullguard level or at the router level. Thanks in advance for any advice. Although this question has been ask and answered, I have to ask again. Initially, KB2793210 and KB2795944 failed to install but gave no indication of failure. Windows 8 went into a 'Shutting Down / Restart' holding pattern for approximately two hours when I manually shut it down. Reviewing the installed updates showed a failure to install for both updates. A second attempt to install the updates was successful but the failure to shutdown and restart persists. I followed all the suggestions in the problem resolution but the problem continues. In running the update scan, as administrator, the scan finds an error, reports it as fixed but any subsequent scan finds the same error and reports the problem fixed. I will have to wait for another update to know if the problem is resolved but, at some point, shouldn't the scan report 'no problems found'? View this thread

The KB2795944 is impossible to install. I have an Asus Vivibook 200 with a touchscreen and W8 64 b. My language is Swedish. The update arrived on Feb 12, and there were other updates that failed. By running the help functions I was informed that these updates were not compatible with my system, and they disappeared from windows update. But KB2795944 is still there. I have downloaded it separately and tried to install it manually, with no success. Tacksam för hjälp View this thread
