Thanks. I have run Security Essentials several times in safe mode and this is the virus that shows the most often. Security Essentials removes the virus but then the next day it comes back (shows up again). Any way to permanently remove it? View this thread

Can someone elaborate on the scheduled scan option for MSE? Will it scan when PC is off? What does PC not in use mean? Should I manually insert a schedule into XP's "task scheduler", and if so; what file to I enter into my scheduler? I keep getting Error Code 643.I am using Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 64-bit. It was installed clean on my drive by myself . I have had no problems downloading updates till now. This problem stated on 01/10/13. It went on for a while as the updates were on automatic. I have had several updates of MS security essentials and several optional updates the last of which was today (of the keyboard and mouse). It is only these two that are giving me a problem.I have researched online to an extensive degree and have found no solution that works, including Microsoft's Mr. Fixit. I purchased Windows 7 Professional and on the actual disc it states that it "Includes Windows Anytime Upgrade" yet when I try to enter the Product Key the response from the website is invalid key!!!! First my computer locked my keyboard out, I thought it was just the wireless one with flat batteries, and I tried everything. Not even an old 101 keyboard would function on my system - so I reloaded a clean install of Windows 7 and started getting update errors. Two days later and I am still trying to reload it having checked proxy settings, firewall components, runnint anti-malware rootkits, running troubleshooters that don't work (but claim to have resolved the problems) etcetera. Serves me right for believing a WINDOWS operating system would function. Microsoft, once again, you've made my day. View this thread

Playing a game (Hearts- Hardwood Hearts) on line everything worked good for a few weeks than it stopped downloading because download manager wasn't installed. I also get: Download was transfered to Free Download Manger... Please use "Back" Button to go back.. That doesn't it did before. in window topics I picked updates wasn't sure what to pick. Thanks. Hi when i search for updates i get this error (80073712) I also can turn on the windows security service center as it says the windows security center service couldnt be started. When i go to turn on or off windows features it doesnt display any features. and windows firewall shows it isnt on the recommended settings but when i click update your firewall settings it says error cant change some of your settings. I wouldnt like to do a clean install and my system restore for some reason only goes up to the start of this year which wouldnt solve the problem. Thanks for your help! View this thread

Following upgrading to Windows 8 - Office 2007 - Spell check will not work even though I change the language settings. UK version of office. When I try to speck check on UK language setting it come up with this message. (Cannot find proofing tools for English United Kingdom. At first I received an error code 80070002 and I checked for a possible answer here on support, received a detailed process from stopping updates and deleting temporary files to restarting updates....did it all but when I do updates again the KB2310138 update has downloaded but it will not install. All .NET Framework updates are failing for me (including for 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0). All frameworks are installed, and I have tried repairing and uninstalling/reinstalling them). I can't apply any recent security updates for these (see long list below). Other updates such as for IE-8 and Win XP install OK. With 20 hours wasted out of my weekend -- very frustrated. As as see many, many ohters have been with .Net update problems -- there seems to be more on the web about this than any other Windows problems, and it seems most were never resolved. End of rant. What can I do to get the following KBs installed, my computer safe and (ha!) my lost time resturned by Microsoft? The common installer report is: "KBxxxxxxx does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer." Very cryptic and not at all helpful. Hello to everyone, I'm trying to upgrade a pc with windows 7 32-bit, and I want to switch to windwos 8 64-bit. Digging on internet I found that it's possibile trough custom installation (at least from xp to win7) but I'm trying to understand if it's possibile also for win8. Some months ago I've upgraded a PC to win8 and I obtained a license for 29,99$, but I didn't found how many computer I can activate with that key...if I can't use that serial, can I use the win8 upgrade assistant to migrate from win7 32-bit to win8 64-bi? with other 29,99$? I have Windows Vista. In as effort to download Windows Live Mail, I tried to install Windows Live Essentials, however was advised I needed to install Windows Platform Update. When I clicked on Windows Update, it produced a box which asked me to check for updates. I clicked on it and the following error message appeared "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart the computer".
