Hello, As of three days ago every time I open any folder all the files inside that folder appear as “Details”. I prefer to view these files as “List” and if I change the view to “List”, the next time I start up my PC all the files inside the folders are once again viewed as “Details”. Is there any way to correct this so that files are always viewed as “List” (unless I change them, of course)? Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated. I use Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1. I cannot install Service pack 1. I have formatted my PC a week ago, and 4 days later the update came for SP1. I used Windows update, like I always do, it appeared to have installed, but then a few minutes later its back on the Windows update list again. This keeps repeats all the time I try to install it.I have followed the MIcrosoft links to doing it manually, but this ends up with Stage 3 of 3 not completing,. So I end up with it back on Windows UPdate list again.I get no error codes just telling me it will not install.It is so annoying because I had it installed before the format and I cannot understand why it will not install this time. MS Techs and Friends: I recently installed shareware (Call Station 5.5 & Call Soft's Advanced CallCenter ). I eventially deleted Call Soft's Advanced CallCenter and have kept CallStation (by Impulse Tech.). However, now, I have a PADLOCK ICON on my UserAcct (named Elee), and I, E Lee, am also the Administrator although when I go to control panel 'User Accts' I see an entry for both an E.Lee (Me) and Adminstrator. Everything works OK except I CANNOT CREATE A NEW FOLDER EXCEPT BY USE OF THE CMD PROMPT. Can anyone help? View the thread

My old MS-Dos program ran full-screen in earlier versions of Windows, including earlier versions of Windows XP. Due to something in one of the updates it now occupies the top third only in full-screen mode, with the rest of the screen black, blank, and scrollable (like the Windows XP version of the command prompt has always been). 172.5MB update released January, 2013 and Published 10/04/2013 fails to install with error message 80070002 applies nVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. This is an automatically applied update listed as "important". It appears to have removed existing drivers, and video performance is now degraded. Also nVidia video card no longer appears under managed devices. MS Updater requests reinstalling of this update at every shutdown. Similar problem appears to have occurred in the US back in October 2012 where the down load was 171.6MB. - has an attempt been made to fix it? Have tried all suggestions under support and help but with no success. Suspect that I will have to obtain latest drivers from nVidia site and reinstall. I have Windows 7 Home Premium. I have some .PTB files and the program to open/edit them (Powertab). I can open the program and then open the file but am unable to click on the file and open the program. If I try, I get a message stating that Windows needs to know what program should be used to open it. How can I "tell" Windows about this program? View the thread

I have a Dell Vostro220- Usin Window Vista I was trying to install Window Installer 3.1, system was showing there ia not enough memory. I extended Memory to Max. still had the same probem. ( Hard Drive had 100Gig space. But I compressed Operating system partition. Then tried to Restart but is showing the following: CD-ROM Boot Priority.. Boot Ready BOOT MGR is compressed Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I have Recovery system in HDrive. I made a BOOT disk on CD but it is not helping. Tried Dignostic, found No problem Tried Boot Utility Partition, every thing is OK But not starting. Actually I do not know much about computers but I am sure if there is way in setUp or or way to Uncompress the Operating Drive then it will resolve the problem. Please if some body can help me. This has happened ever since I got my laptop. I noticed that my windows 7 uses above 1.55GB just idling. I mean im doing nothing! Right now it uses a little bit more because I have a few programs that start up such as SugarSync(cloud storage) and lightscreen(for taking multiple screenshots without having to save them manually.) Right now those programs are using 14,864 K (lightscreen) and 27,192 K (SugarSync). I like speed so I have disabled many programs for startup in msconfig. These consist of Adobe reader, Apple Push, Facebook update, Google update, GoogleDrive, Hp Quick Launch, Hp QuickWeb, iTunes, Logitech Download Assistant, SansaDispatch, HP LaunchBox, Skype, Steam, and Microsoft OneNote. So I have very few programs that I kept up. My virus protection is Kaspersky. The reason I bring this up is that I need the RAM because I sometimes run a minecraft server and minecraft client with a few other programs on such as Skype and internet explorer(by the way I switched from chome to IE10 because I love the metro look and how it performs.) The thing that bugs me is that when I look at another windows 7 computer or my friends windows 7 computer they all use about 1.2GB of RAM or less. How come mine uses so much? Is there a way to have Windows 7 use less RAM? My specs are: Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) 6GB RAM AMD A8 3520M APU with HD Radeon Graphics with 1.60GHz I bout this laptop about a year ago. EDIT: This just happened a few minutes after I posted this and it has never happened to me before. I was browsing on a tech news website when all of a sudden my computer made a medium *BOOP* sound. the mouse started to lag then stopped all together.
