  1. Excellent Matt, thanks for letting us know....
  2. You can remove the files but BitDefender may not run correctly after.... If its a FULL install I recommend deleting the C partion during install then recreate a new one......While your are recreating a new partition you may wish to create two,one for Windows and one for storage..... I wasnt saying it was illegal babe, just that if it is a copy disk they sometimes corrupt and that could be the cause of problems....
  3. Welcome Joe. As long as it is XP Pro restore disk you can use it,during install do NOT save old settings... Personaly I would of used a FULL install disk....
  4. Hey matt them files are BitDeffender files......If you dont free up space on E drive soon the partition may become corrupt, then you will loose all data on it.... Uninstall BitDefender and those files can be removed..... Are you using a FULL install legal Windows 7 DVD? If it is a FULL install disk have you tried deleting the C partition during install and creating a new one?
  5. Have you reinstalled windows?
  6. Add the new fan, they are not expensive, add fresh thermal paste then recheck the temps.....Let us know how it goes....
  7. Is it a new mainboard or a used one? Your first post says a new one.... For HDD,CD etc to keep spinning after shut down my first thought would be PSU issue.... Second thought would be mainboard issues. Third wrong connection, bad cable bad peice of hardware... A PSU can appear to work perfectly in one machine and NOT in another.... Disconnect all internal hardware not required for booting and external.... Disconnect HDD,CD/DVD drives, card readers etc...... Now boot up are you getting the same startup/slow down/stop?
  8. Do you see on the screen "Press Del to enter setup"? Press Del button on startup, this should then enter BIOS...
  9. I agree with you on the shutting off via the on/off button,a computer should be shut down by click start on the taskbar and click on shutdown... Shutting the computer down by the actual on off button causes hardware issues and BIOS issues....
  10. Hello and welcome..This dont sound good... I agree this is a very old computer and if you have never replaced the hard drive in the time you have had it I would assume it is a smaller gig and is proberly full..Over full... The clicking could be your hard drive.... When you turn your computer on is your hard drive listed? Can you enter BIOS and again is your hard drive listed?
  11. Can I just input here..... The startup fan sounds your experiencing appears to be overclock function and/or "smart fan"......The fans will start up then stop or slow due to smart fan.....An example is if the computer is idle the fans will slow or stop,it saves power...... My Gigabyte mainboard has smart fan and it also appears to start up and the fans slow or stop during the startup process....
  12. Here are instructions on how to apply thermal paste for diffrent CPUs.... http://www.arcticsilver.com/instructions.htm I would certainly think about adding a case fan to cool the internals.... Thanks Nev..x
  13. Hello Neil....Your findings of the invertor has gone are possibly true..... The darkening screen, but if you get up close you can faintly see a picture. The pixilation is possibly due to graphics fault or failing or yes a loose cable.....Or to graphics getting to hot.... You need to check for loose cables....
  14. Hello there.....Your CPU temp is to high,if the first picture is idle temps and the second is game play even at idle the CPU temps are to high..... Is your CPU cooling fan spinning? A re-application of thermal paste may help the temps especialy if the cooler has been removed and replaced at some time..... Do you have fan/cooler control on the front of your PC case?
  15. The first thing is to uninstall Dell support Centre and download and reinstall it....
  16. KenB you are correct it is a driver file for older windows versions and needs to be left alone....
  17. Hello Adam and welcome.... Restart the computer and let chkdsk run.... Please post any errors for me please that chkdsk shows... This may not be a good sign,it may mean your hard drive is failing.... Also after chkdsk has run shut down the computer and then restart and repeatedly tap the F8 key,if a list appears could you choose safe mode....
  18. Hello there. Could you explain a little further please? Do they pop up in seprate windows? Such as full screen adds or smaller popups? You may wish to look in our malware/security section and follow the instructions and our Security Team will help you further....
  19. Excellent, thankyou for getting back to us...
  20. Hello and welcome..... I am looking into this for you... So far I found 5 reasons of what MAYBE the issue: 1: the bios can be malfunctioning (a bios reset or flash can give a solution) 2: the cpu can be malfunctioning (this requires a new cpu) 3: the cpu socket can be failing (this requires a new mb) 4: the problem can be with bad usb sockets 5: even a bad uplink to a usb hub can cause this error to appear. Unplug ALL external hardware not required to boot the computer... Such items as external hard drive, printers, scanners, router, hub, etc. Now if your using a wireless keyboard n mouse swop to a PS/2 wired keyboard and mouse.... DO NOT use a USB keyboard and mouse... Unplug the computer from power outlet. Open up the computer and and touch the power supply for a few seconds to eliminate static, then carefully clean internals with a soft natural bristle brush,NOT manmade fibers.. Or use a can of compressed air that is bought especialy for computers, make sure all fans are clean. Check all wires, cables are correctly and fully connected. Now turn the computer back on with side panel still off,are all fans spinning? Is the computer now booting correctly? Using a wired keyboard and mouse are you able to enter BIOS and turn off Boot to USB devices? Save and exit now can you logon to windows? Are you sure the boot order in BIOS is set correctly? Set to HDD as first,CD/DVD rom then all other drives thereafter. If you are using a USB uplink with your monitor unplug it and use a diffrent USB port or if you have front panel USB plug into one of them.... This is what I have come up with so far.....But it appears your USB maybe the issue,I am unsure of this yet....
  21. That is an excellent choice, room to power any upgrades and great brand....I would buy that one.....
  22. I think 1000 is over kill......Unless your running some high specification dual graphics card computer there realy is no need for that amount.....I do say always get a little extra power just in case you wish to add more hardware in the future.600 watt is a decent PSU to buy.....1000 watt is a waste of money..... Please buy a good branded PSU.....Corsair or OCZ are good ones.......Do NOT buy PC Wprld Jeantek brand, they are prone to develope faults and fail......
  23. Try this: Click on Tools or use Alt + X. Select Manage add-ons. Select Toolbars and Extensions. Go down the list and under Google Inc you should see Google Toolbar Helper. Disable this function. Press Close button. You should stop hearing voices! OR: Go to Control Panel -> Ease of Access -> Ease of Access Center -> Explore all Settings -> Use the computer without a display. Uncheck the checkbox by Turn on Narrator and click Save.
  24. You realy dont need that larger PSU 500-600 watt would do it...... You will be fine fitting that new card......Ive looked ay your mainboard specs and the card will fit and run.....
  25. Hello and welcome..... To help you further, what make and model is your computer or make and model of your mainboard? Often enough you cannot just replace a GPU you also have to replace the power supply.... What wattage is your PSU?
