  1. Hello there. Sorry I had to go pick my child up from school.... When you fitted the new GPU did you use the BIOS rest jumpers to reset the BIOS? I sugest you do this... I would also sugested of uninstalling the old graphics card drivers.. Was your old GPU onboard? If yes then disable it in BIOS.

  5. Hello Nick. Firstly have you updated your Antivirus software and ran full system scans? This may sound silly but as you have the same issue in all browsers are you sure your mouse is not to blame? Update the mouse software via device manager or even try a diffrent mouse.... If your using a laptop plug in a USB or normal port mouse....

  12. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer. copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\ copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

  16. Hello there. Have you tried turning off the modem/router and the computer then reboot modem/router then reboot the computer? Have you tried updating the hardware driver via device manager? How to Set IP Address and Other Network Information in Windows XP
  17. Have you turned on automatic updates and gully updated the machine? Are you able to test the drive on another laptop? As you added another drive and the same thing happened this maybe a fault with the connection internaly or a broken pin or loose pin internaly...Ot another hardware fault.
  18. Paul the driver hopefully should sort you out.
  19. I see no reason why this card will not run in your machine other than you are running a basic power supply of wich wattage is not listed........ I would go for a compatable PSU of around 500 watts...... Its not always as simple as just fitting a newer upgraded card you have to take in your power supply and do you need a new more powerfull one......
  20. Have you tried a system restore to just before you fiddled with the laptop?
  21. I would never buy one again........I found Dell flat screens excellent value and excellent picture on DVI or VGA connections... I would take it back to the store were you bought it as it should have a 12 months warantee on it......Consumer rights say they must replace it with exact same model or something alike.......You could argue for your money back but that could be a loosing battle......Or exchange for a diffrent make and model.....
  22. MrH your welcome let me know how it goes... Paul did you run the Vista upgrade advisor first wich would of given you an indication if this older computer could fully run Vista? Also you realy should make your own thread and not post on other peoples. You need Realtek ALC655 driver download..... Realtek
  23. What I see is Windows 7 on an older laptop that is unable to run such a new Windows software... The laptop hardware drivers are not available in some cases to run on your older machine with Windows 7. A bad or incompatable hardware driver or incompatacle hardware will make the machine reboot. I would simply say older machine that is not fully capable of running Windows 7............... Did you even run Windows 7 upgrade advisor at all? I would go back to XP wich the laptop is able to run and were hardware drivers are available.
