  1. The issue maybe the computer trying to reconise 32 bit and 64 bit,there maybe a conflict. You may of written over the MBR in windows 7. I sugest a repir install of Windows 7.
  2. Oh thats brilliant. Are you able to set first boot device to CD/DVD rom and pop in the disk. I dont want you to do a recovery or full install but a repair install and see if that gets you up and running. 1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD. 2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen. 3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console. 4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement. 5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.
  3. Have you tried restarting the computer and repeatedly tap F8 and then you should get a list of choices. Try last known good config or safe mode? Do either of these work? It may take a few tries and restarts to reach the menu choices.

Try: Click start/right click on my computer and choose properties/hardware tab/device manager/use the + to open a drop down list under network adaptors/right click on each adaptor and choose update driver. Click start,All Programs/Accesories/Command Prompt. Type in ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter. In command prompt type ipconfig /release and hit enter. Then type ipconfig /renew and hit enter. Now shut down the laptop and press the reset button on the wireless router,then restart the laptop. Now can you connect?

Click the Clean Up button in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the most recent one. This will remove any infected files that have been backed up by Windows. You can also set permissions in XP. In XP and Vista you can right click on the file and choose open with and then choose a program you can set the program to default.

  10. Hello and welcome. Dell is sort of correct. You fitted a new mainboard you will have to try a repair install if that dont work then you will have to reformat the laptop I am afraid to say.

  14. Hello and welcome. Are you able to right click and choose explore? Does that work? Is the hard drive making any sound or is it making any vibrations?
  15. Hello and welcome. Do the following: Click start then right click on my computer and from the drop down list choose properties. Then choose hardware tab then device manager. Use the + next to network in the list to open a secondary list. Makes sure the computer is cabled connected to the router for the time being. Right click on each listed network adaptor and choose update driver. Once each item has updated exit device manager. Shut down the computer and press the reset button on the router. Now restart your computer and see if you now can connect via wireless.

  18. You can try the tool ben however I am thinking corruption and possibly a repair being done on the operating system. I dont want to asume a recovery as all files would have to be backed up first and can take time. I would agree a virus may of caused some corruption.
