Did you actualy speak to someone on the phone were you input the sets of numbers or did they give you another number to call and you rang that number and they gave you the advice to buy a new license? I realy do not understand that there actual Tech support said to buy a new one as I have had many a new key generated for free. Unless they have changed the rules now? If they no longer will generate a new key then I am afraid to say it is purchase one.

Hello there. This could be your antivirus or firewall. Try this and see if you can install them. * Open the Control Panel and select Security. * Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off. * Select Off (not recommended), click Apply and then OK. * Back at the Windows Update screen, click the Try again button. * The download(s) and installation should start… * and this time successfully install. If a restart is required, make sure to re-enable your Firewall once your PC restarts. * Though this solution will work for most Vista Update errors Method 1: Register the Windows Update files 1. Copy the following commands, and then paste them into the opened Notepad window: REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL /S REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL /S REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL /S REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL /S REGSVR32 WUCLTUX.DLL /S REGSVR32 WUWEBV.DLL /S REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL /S REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL /S 1. In Notepad, on the File menu, click Save As. 2. In the Save as type list, click All Files. 3. In the File name box, type register.bat. 4. Save the Register.bat file to your desktop. 5. Right-click the Register.bat file, and then click Run as administrator.Collapse this imageExpand this imageIf you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password or click Continue. 6. Hey Trippy any luck with the drive? -
Hello there. The first thing you do is choose activate via phone. Input the sets of numbers over the phone. If after three attempts you can still not activate then you are put through to support. If activation still fails they will then give you Microsoft Tech Support number. Tech support will help you out and should generate you a genuine key for you.

Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file. Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file. Attempting to upgrade from a Windows 95, 98, or ME computer that is using FAT32. New hard disk drive being added. Corrupt boot sector / master boot record. Seriously corrupted version of Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable. Failing to enable USB keyboard support in the BIOS. The problem appears is you NEED the install disk to fix the error. -

Hey Dave your very welcome. Norton is a resource hog and a pain. If you decide to buy the install disk online remember some stores like Amazon charge for delivery so take that into consideration.Play.com do not charge for delivery on anything. views on Trusteer Rapport?
Jelly Bean replied to DAIPWYSO's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello there. I have myself not heard of 'Trusteer Rapport' but was just looking and reading about it: Online Banking Security | Trusteer So I cannot give an opinion but I am sure others can. I did however check which banks are recommending it and mine is. Here are some questions asked to my bank about there software: Do I still need anti-virus software? Absolutely. Anti-virus software is a vital part of your computer’s defences, and you need to make sure it’s up-to-date. Rapport is designed to work alongside your anti-virus software and firewall - it’s not designed to replace them. How am I protected? Firewalls, anti-virus software and Rapport work in very different ways: Rapport strengthens your online security by ‘locking down’ the connection between your computer, keyboard and Alliance & Leicester internet banking. It helps stop your data going to counterfeit sites, so you can be safe in the knowledge that only you are transacting on your account. Anti-virus software helps to stop threats, by scanning your PC and looking for suspicious files, whereas firewalls hide your computer from attackers, and helps stop criminals getting data in and out of your computer. Rapport doesn’t replace the benefits of anti-virus and firewall software or your unique image and phrase when accessing our internet banking – it works alongside them to provide increased protection when transacting online. To defend your personal details, you need to use Rapport alongside anti-virus software and a firewall. Do I need to download Rapport onto every computer I use? Yes – in order to be fully protected when banking with us online, you should download Rapport onto each machine you use – just like anti-virus software. If you wish to download Rapport to a work PC, check with your employer as they may not allow downloads to their PCs. How do I know I’m protected? You need to look out for the Rapport icon which appears next to your browser’s address bar. You’re protected – the icon is green when your information is safe:. It can also be setup to protect data on other websites not just your bank. Kaspersky 2010 is good and as for high street purchase I would just say look to who is selling it at the best lower price. Buying online may mean you get a download.Buying from a store you would receive the install disk and key code to activate it. I see no conflict in running both the above named progams. I hope this helps? I am sure others will input with more information for you. PS: Get rid of Norton as soon as you can.If she has problems removing/uninstalling Norton then you can use the uninstall tool: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool -
Hello and welcome. Do you mean when you download a file and save it to? Do you use IE or FireFox to download files? Or do you mean you need to move files to D: to free up space on C:? If you need to free up space on C: drive then you can make new folders on D: and drag files over to it the new folder. As an example: Make a folder on D: drive called music. Open your music folder on C: drive under your documents. Highlight all your music files by dragging your mouse across all the files then hold down your mouse and drag and drop them into the new music folder on D: drive. Or right click on the highlighted files and choose copy then paste the files into the new music folder on D: drive. Once all files are transfered to D: check all files have been transfered then you can delete the files from the Music Folder on C: drive hence freeing up space. You can do this for all folders such as pictures and any other documents. You will still be able to veiw documents and play files from D: drive so do not worry. Ok now download and install: CCleaner - Home Now once installed highlight the Cleaner button on the top left/then click analyze button on bottom right/when the analyze has finished click the Run Cleaner button on bottom right. This will clean out any temp files stored on your computer and free up space. You could also delete system restore points that are stored and use up space. How to remove all System Restore points except the most recent one To do this:- Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Click Disc Cleanup Now launch this utility and click More Options tab. Under which click System Restore and followed by that click Clean Up tab a message will popup -Are you sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point?Click Yes then OK. Finally another message will popup-Are you sure you want to perform these actions?Click Yes. Now, all the System Restore points except the most recent one are cleaned. As a result there will be more free space in hard disk. Let me know how that goes then I can give you further advice.

Ahhhh possibly remove the RAM and place in the smaller gig and slower speed in the slots nearest the CPU then add the 1 gigs after that. Did the scanner say it supported mixed RAM? -
ANOTHER Blue Screen Of Death
Jelly Bean replied to John64's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello there. I can only find at this moment the error points to a faulty hardware driver such as hard drive or a PCI card driver. Does your mainboard support mixed RAM? Try this scanner and tell me what it says it supports as in mixed, speed etc. Memory upgrades from Crucial.com - About Crucial:Media Toolbox In many case RAM can report a smaller amount than what is installed as some of the RAM is dedicated to the GPU. -
Ok let us check a few things. Temprature when under load and normal processes. SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer Please post results of speed fan. How much RAM do you have fitted? Test your RAM: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

If it is a faulty card or the card needs resitting or a bad driver then yes BSODs are possible. Also software can cause BSODs,antivirus programs the list is endless. Your very welcome.

Hey your first event ID is a browser/server issue. How to Fix Master Browser (MRxSmb) Event ID 8003 errors | HighTechDad Blog Second one: "Event ID: 7000" or "Event ID: 7013" Error Message When You Attempt to Start a Service Third: Error message and event ID 1003 after you restart your Windows Server 2003-based computer: "Serious system error has occurred" Forth: Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card I also noted you said you had problems with your network adaptor. If the adaptor is a PCI card I would resit it into its slot, update its drivers.

Attaching an old hard drive to my computer!
Jelly Bean replied to kathi's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hey Kathi,it seems it is dead. It should at least vibrate very slightly when power is attched and it font. :( I am not a fan of eBay I am a fan of Play.com as it is free delivery on everything or Amazon. But it is your choice for the purchase. Ok we are taliking an older computer and it possibly dont have the power to run a larger HDD/hard drive. I look at this way if the origonal HDD was 20-40 gigs in size I would go no higher than a 160 gig hard drive to be on the safe side.Possibly a 250 gig. Many of us choose a branded HDD such as Western Digital,Maxtor or Seagate. But you will notice the prices rise also. You could just buy a generic HDD as it is an older PC. You need an IDE HDD let me post examples. The first two are fine. Amazon.co.uk: hard drive ide - Electronics & Photo I do advise you buy an updated IDE cable also. Windows 98 is outdated and Microsoft no longer supports it,you will be better off with XP. But if you can find a seller on eBay with good reviews you should be fine, dont be ripped off on prices and remeber posting costs. -

I also suspect the disk may of died I am afraid to say. Use: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket you can then just add the link to your next post. -
All I can think of wich possibly will not work is to boot into recovery console. Restart and press F8 and a list appears, choose repair my computer and see if it works. Other than trying the recovery console the only choice you then have is to buy a legal copy of Vista or XP.

Ok Kathi I am not 100% sure of that top drive listed with no assigned letter. It could be your recovery console which I belive it is. Or it could be the drive you just fitted. One question, you bought the adaptor Tootech posted? Did you attach the power supply to the hard drive?
