  11. try resitting all your internal parts,,,ie memory graphics card etc...etc.....no static though...# do you have a spare stick of ram you can test with.... do you have an xp cd.. regards danzil
  12. the 0x0a partof the error message means..that a kernel-mode process or driver attempted to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel interrupt request level (IRQL) that was too high. A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own. This Stop message is typically due to faulty or incompatible hardware or software. so best try and et into safe mode and try a system restore... what was you doing prior to tis error. regards danzil
  13. you could try running it straight into the wall socket but i dont think that is the issue... the main thing we need to know is are there any beeps coming from the machine....is everything sat in correctly...maybe worth resitting your ram and cpu,as a quick test... let me know how you get on regards danzil

  20. did you get any kinda cd with the drive... have you tried searching, for a driver....i have read that xp doesnt need a driver.but hey may be worth a like. i will take a look asap. regards danzil
  21. i agree with randyl. try the hard drive as a slave in another pc...backup your data... i advise you not to leave this to long, the longer the hard drive is in use ,the more likely chance your data will be unretrievable. as you stated in the bios the drive, is recgonised as a aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,,this is NOT correct.so all point to hard drive failure unfortunatly. regards danzil
  22. do you have s-video connection,or a tv out connection......vga should be ok tho...update all your graphics car drivers...check all s ettings regards danzil
  23. you will NOT be able to do this legally.....the progs installed on that machine is for that machine.......not for two.... the only way to do it quickly is to as you say clone the hard drive......casper xp is great for this....i believe in 98 its called drive to drive cost £30 i think, there may be some good freeware progs out there but im not 100% sure of any good ones. regards danzil...... ps it can be done, but will take ages and isnt fun lol
