  1. You 'could' download it, but I would highly oppose doing so - I have seen lots of problems caused by this program and in my opinion it is best avoided - there are many free programs that are better.
  2. Nickos - what are you trying to launch the game from - the disk? the shortcut on the desktop or a direct launch via C:/program files/(game developer) application? The one that will ALWAYS work is the last one I listed, as the other 2 can have all sorts of problems.
  3. Have you installed the Ethernet drives from the MOBO disk? If the lights on the router are not coming on then that would signify that that the router is not getting a signal from the ISP - they should come on whether you have it plugged in a pc or not.
  4. Mara have a look at this link and it shows all the products that Convar make Convar: - Company Information I think that whoever had the stick before you somehow 'lost' their photos and either they or the computer shop you bought the drive from installed the recovery program and now you are getting all of what is on that drive.
  5. The smiley face is more than enough :) as Wolfey has said anytime you need help with anything PC related you know where to come :D
  6. I am sure that he will be copying and pasting it rather than trying to remember to spell it :D.
  7. Can you tell us what solved the problem. As for the capes - lol and as for American Express - no one accepts that anymore lol
  8. Failing that have you had the monitor plugged into an external monitor recently or a TV?
  9. With JavaScript becoming increasingly important as the underlying technology for many rich Internet applications, it also becomes all the more crucial for browsers to interpret the language at top speed. While Firefox 3 did improve JavaScript execution times when compared with Firefox 2, Mozilla this week is touting a new engine that will dramatically boost performance like nothing else in the market. Dubbed TraceMonkey, the new engine will purportedly take JavaScript performance to another level, where instead of competing against other interpreters, it will start to compete against native code running directly on PCs. But how fast is that? According to Mozilla’s vice president of engineering, Mike Shaver, the JavaScript performance will nearly double compared to current speeds – which he said should speed up many basic tasks but also bring image editing and 3D graphics into JavaScript’s abilities. Mozilla hopes to include a scaled down version of TraceMonkey in Firefox version 3.1, but it won’t be until the release of Firefox version 4.0 that we will see the full benefit. 10. Microsoft is backtracking on an update released earlier this month, after they discovered that a patch was released with a severe flaw. Users of Office 2003 had the option of installing a patch to fix several security vulnerabilities, and one of the patches in particular, MS08-051, was incomplete. It didn't encompass the entire set of vulnerabilities, letting the system (and user) believe they were up to date when in fact they weren't. Microsoft has since rolled back the patch, and reminded users that people making use of Windows Update didn't have to worry about anything – only manual downloads were affected. For those that did install the security update manually, via the downloadable hotfix, the patch must be first uninstalled and then reapplied with the correct version. 11. The green and orange light on the back of the Ethernet port should light up yes. Try the reset on the router and leave the unplug the internet for 30 seconds and see if they come on, do you have the latest firmware for the linksys router?
  12. The 'best' way to maintain battery life is:- fully charge it when you buy the laptop (as recommended in the handbook) then use the battery until it completely drains. Then fully recharge it. do the above when needed and thats it. there are some 'uprated' batteries you can buy, but I would not bother.
  13. It is more likely to be as Wolfey has said the CPU heatsink than the HDD - if the HDD was on its way out you would get increased loading times and glitches/delays when opening programs
  14. Cheers matey - Gav have you tried resetting the router?
  15. Are there no lights coming on or anything? Have you bent the screen at all? brightness and contrast turned up?
  16. Mara I found this:- CONVAR is a digital photo recovery system. Can you try the stick in another PC and see what happens?
  17. Gav - have you looked in the MSCONFIG to see if there is anything running that should not/does not need to be. Paint will sap the speed of your system as its an editing suite.
  18. Are you trying to connect with wireless or an ethernet cable
  19. Avast and Agnitum are a good combo ;)
  20. Majorgeeks.com and download.com have some good programs :) most on download.com are trials and shareware etc
  21. lol - were you dribbling all over the keyboard again Seth :D
  22. Did you uninstall all the older graphics drivers before putting the new ones on. go to C:/Nvidia and tell me whats in that file - there should only be one file the latest one 177.41 I think it is - if there is more than one folder that will be the problem.
  23. Another problem with the Cruzer maybe that its set for windows vista readyboost and not as a storage device (I had one like this and I had to reformat the stick as it was blue screening the OS) - as has been suggested uninstall the USB drivers and reinstall them from the disk that came with the laptop
