  2. Simplest thing would be to take the cover off and use a tape measure. All you are doing is confirming that the PSU that you have is, in fact, the same dimensions that I have given you. You can also make a note of the location of the fan. If you are going to replace it - you are going to have to take the cover off at some point.
  3. Nothing wrong with your specs. So much so - I doubt that a move to a faster HDD would make a difference. I cannot understand why the program crashes - it cannot be due to the data transfer rate of the drive. You may find this interesting: A Solid State drive would be even better. Ableton has a support site. Crashing has been noted before. http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=111925
  4. Hi, Check the Boot Order in the BIOS. Switch on. You will see the message ...."Press -- to Enter Setup" This is normally DEL or F2 and you have to be fairly quick. Once in the BIOS move around with the arrow keys. Look for "Boot Order" "Boot Sequence" or similar ( all BIOS are different ). You need to change the boot order so that the HDD ( Hard Disk ) is the 1st boot device ( top of the list ) Normally moved up and down with + / - keys - there will be info on the page. Move the Hard Drive to the 1st boot device position then Save and Exit ( usually F10 ) Try booting again.
  5. Even if the BIOS does recognise the drive as being SATA the OS needs to know too. It could be that your BIOS is configured in Legacy Mode. If this is the case then the Drive will be viewed as PATA - not requiring any drivers.
  6. Hi and welcome to ExTS Check in the CDROM drive that you have not left a disk in there. Desktop or laptop ? Do you have a full XP installation disk ( Not Recovery Disks ) ?
  7. Can you explain this please ? Please copy your Hosts file and post it here.
  8. Hi, If you are installing XP onto a SATA drive you will need to install SATA drivers during the install process. Unlike Vista and Win7 - XP does not have SATA Controller Drivers on the installation disk. This was usually done from a floppy drive - but if you don't have a floppy drive then the normal method obviously cannot be used. It is, however, possible. See Here
  9. Hi neighbour :) Thanks for the feedback - good to hear that you are up and running again. Hope you intend to stick around.
  10. Try it this way: Start > All Programs > Accessories Right click on Notebook > Run as Administrator Navigate to the Hosts file and open it. Make the alterations > File > Save.
  11. Take a look in your Hosts file. Start > Computer > C: > Windows > System32 > Drivers > etc Open it in Notepad It should look like this: # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost If there is anything else copy it any paste it here please.
  12. If MS have confirmed that your Product Key is genuine then they should give you a new Key if your original will not Verify. Do not be put off. Insist that you are given a new Key as their software is rejecting your genuine one. They have replaced Product Keys in the past - INSIST :)
  13. Hi, I assume that you cannot get to the recovery console? See Here You can order Recovery Disks from Toshiba See Here
  14. This implies that it did BEFORE you re-installed XP. For the benefit of other readers: XP does not have inbuilt software to read / burn DVDs. ( Vista and Win7 do ) You need to install something like Ashampoo
  15. Hi Keith If you were prompted for the code you must have re-installed - is this correct ? Have you extended to 30 day period ? You must still validate. See Here Is this a legal copy of Windows ( sorry - I have to ask )
  16. Get back to us after you have stripped the motherboard of hardware and connections. We are hoping for POST beeps.
  17. Hi again Try this: Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control On / Off > Take the tick out of the "Use User Account Control" > OK Ignore any warnings. Try deleting the programs now. If you have no success - go back and enable UAC. ============== Nev, This isn't an option on Vista Home - I have just checked on mine. codylocklun To do what Nev suggests ..... When you click on "User Accounts" top right it will show the name you are logged in by. It will also tell you if you are logged on as an Administrator. Are you ?
  18. Hi and welcome to ExTS apss.dll can be found in the System32 folder BUT apssk.dll is not in mine ( Vista at the moment ) Take a look here to see if your apssk.dll is listed: Start > type in ....system32......ENTER Scroll down - the .dll entries are alphabetical. Is apssk.dll listed ?
  19. Sorry - I was looking at your profile details ( XP 64 bit ) - I now know you mentioned Vista in your first post. I will ask one of our Security Experts to take a look at the posts so far to advise if this could be malware related or not. In the mean time ...... Empty the recycle bin again. Try to create more space by uninstalling programs that you do not use from Control Panel > Programs & Features. If you are unsure what the program is - leave it. Which AntiVirus are you using ? ============== We have a few more options left before we get to this stage We don't like to be beaten ........stick with us. :)
  20. Hi Carl You have plenty of free space. Windows needs about 10% free. You could make use of the D:\ Data drive to save files and photos to. I will leave etavares to advise further.
  21. Hi Carl, Just before etavares gets back to you .... What size is your hard drive and how much free space do you have? Start > Computer > Right click on C:\ > Properties Also how much RAM is in the machine? Start > Right click Computer > Properties
  22. Progress :) I would certainly backup any data ( do not backup onto the same hard drive ) that you need - if you can. Keep us informed.
  23. Hi, Welcome to ExTS There is a Hotmail forum here Try posting your problem and see if they can resolve it for you there.
  24. That card needs at least a 400Watt PSU with 28A on the 12v supply. You would need to make sure that the psu that you have complies with this. This may help: http://www.nvidia.com/content/HelpMeChoose/fx2/HelpMeChoose.asp?lang=en-us Also came across this: http://xfxforce.com/en-us/products/graphiccards/9series/9800gt.aspx
  25. Hi Keith Try the Startup Repair option. The other options are unlikely to help at this point. Startup repair will take a look at the Master Boot Record and the Master File Table and if there is a problem there - a repair may solve your problem.
