recently my computer "locked". a bright blue screen appeared with the FBI logo, claiming I had done something illegal and for $200 they would unlock my computer. I'm 100% sure it is a fraud. The syntax of the wording is very,very poor. It is obvious it has originated from a foreign country. How do I remove this thing? any help would be appreciatedThank you View this thread

When we first got our laptop we managed to find the web camera. We didn't use it, but now would like to try Skype. The web camera can't be found. In the start menu it appears under "all programs" Toshiba" "media and entertainment" "web camera application". When we try to use it we get a message saying it failed to initialize.I tried downloading drivers from I have tried reading forum entries that seem to be similar problems, but I don't understand some of the answers. On initial instal of MSE optional updates, results in 'failed'... then on second attempt, usually is ok? Been happening since about 17th Feb 2013. I am running on windows XP, home edition, version 2002, service pack three. I have just realised that my automatic updates have not been working since october last year and when I try and do it manually I get the above error message. PC purchased end of January, with Windows 8 on it. Checking Windows Update, I keep getting message to install downloaded updates, but configuration always fails. Only items successfully installed are KB2771431 KB890830 KB2756923 I'm concerned about the security of my computer, and surprised this problem should occur on a new machine. View this thread

I have done everthing I can to fix this. I have ran 4 or 5 + FIXIT from microsoft. It tells me the probelm, but not how to fix it. I cannot install any updates, I cannot run bitsadmin.exe...I'm pulling my hair out , and losing sleep trying to fix this. Can anyone help? View this thread

Just read that MSE failed to be certified as acceptable by AV-test.org for the 2nd time in a row. It seems to work ok for the most part for me, but I'm concerned as virus and malware threats keep getting more prevalent and ingenius. What do others think about it's failure to pass certification by this testing agency? View this thread

Hello! As my title would suggest, I am having a problem finding a solution to this error code. -Windows Vista home premium 64bit- Background, I am trying to install direct x11 so I can play this new game. Which should be installed with SP2, however "dxdiag" shows me that I still have 10. To my understanding I need "KB971512" (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4390), however it REFUSES to install. It will get to 99% and then say failed. -As far as I know I am up to date on all my drivers. -The only 2 updates I have for Windows update are "Windows Live Essentials 2011" and "Platform Update for Windows Vista x64-based systems (KB971644)" Both won't install -I have tried everything I could find: -Multiple "Fixit"s that say it fixed the problem however it still exist. -Everything listed here http://www.taurarian.mvps.org/WU_Vista/8000ffff.htm -I have done some virus scanning and as far as I can tell I am clean I've spent quite a bit of hours trying to figure this out, and finally have given up and deiced I need help! I successfully installed this program on an HP computer running Windows 8, 64-bit, but the AMD processor was incredibly slow in download and install of programs and essentially made other programs unusable during downloads. I returned the machine (after reformatting the hard drive to original state). My Vipre Antivirus Home software also runs just fine on Windows 7, 64 bit. The machine that it will not install on is a Sony VAIO Tap 20" All-In-One running Intel Core i7. I have tried disabling the Windows Firewall, added the Vipre program to allow it through the Windows Firewall, removed all other antivirus software, and fully updated both Windows and my Microsoft Office programs. The Vipre software update downloads automatically and comes up on the taskbar in the "Home Screen" view. It installs just fine until the very end, when a Windows Error Message pops up saying that it is "Unable to Install Drivers" and the installation freezes until I click on the "X" or "OK" of the Error Message. Note that the program specifically instructs one to ignore Windows Error Messages during installation--however, the machine simply hangs up when the message is displayed regardless of how long I wait. There is no mention of this program problem on the Vipre website or the Windows Tech. Support website. HELP, please View this thread

I have followed the instructions given in several replies to the same question to no avail. I have run several microsoft fixits even with all my Mal-Ware disabled and still no luck. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium. I tried to ask Microsoft live but was told my PID has expired (surely you have the right to help for a product you have legally purchased for the life of the product, What gives). How do I fix this damn thing. There is 10 .NET FRAMEWORK updates that keep getting re offered even thought they show as installed, I guess I could hide them but I won't to know why they keep showing. Everytime the computer goes to check for microsoft/window updates, the old ones that have failed show up again and again. Fustrated as I have not been able to get the problems with the three corrected. My less than 3 month old toshiba laptop is having major problems. On my administrator name the mouse likes to disappear and not show up unless I log off, which starts the problem over. Along with this, today I used a standard user account to restart my laptop and install updates, and the computer is currently stuck on the "restarting" screen. brand new toshiba laptop told their was two new important updates for windows. executed the auto update it downloaded the updates started the configuring windows got to about 50% point . the spinning symbol moved to the left side of the sceen and still spinning .can move the mouse but cant do anything else .was told not to shut the pc down . been doing this for about 3 hours now . assuming this is an update for windows 8 doing this from a different computer need help View this thread

I have blue screen error message that crashes my PC. I posted the issue on the Community forum and I received replies (which I appreciated) but it didn't fix my problem. The Blue screen error comes up as; DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OE_EQUAL; Then there is some 'Technical Information' such as STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x8ca46158). The problem seems to come from an installation of a USB port (it was an update) which I have identified but I can't remove! It appears as an update but when I go to try and uninstall the update, I am unable to cos it is not in the uninstall update link. I was wondering could somebody help me out. Thanks. View this thread
