1. It would seem that the infections are blocking you from connecting to the best malware removal sites. This has been seen many times and is not unusual at all. I don't know how you connect to the internet but it might be possible to connect via SafeMode with Networking to download these programs. If that is not an option you may have to downloade MalwareBytes and SuperAntispyware and burn it to a disk along with the updates from a non infected computer. But you may also want to look at this first. Remove Downadup - Removal tool for Downadup (known also as Conficker or Kido)
2. Hi Allen; FPCH is a great place to enjoy retirement. It is for me and I hope it is for you too.
3. Hello. We're looking forward to having you here.
4. Hi and welcome. It's nice to see a new face here.
5. I guess the first question to ask is, where did you back them up to? Normally the Backup and Restore Center can restore them if the backup location is valid.
6. When you followed the steps above did they find anything and if so what? There are different possibilities here but this is what I would try first: Uninstall any programs that are suspicious or not needed that you may have downloaded as they may be reinstalling malware. Your registry programs come to mind and definitely uniblue spyeraser. Look for others such as P2P, smiley, my web or my search or anything else that you might suspect. Make sure the MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware are updated and this time run them in Safe Mode. Report back what they find. By the way is intelli-scan from PC-Tools?
7. Hi imonroy; I'm afraid we'll need some more information please. 1. What is the exact error message? 2. What version of Outlook do you have or is this Outlook Express? 3. Has it ever worked? 4. What is your Internet Service Provider? 5. Is the email account through your provider? Anything else you can think of to help add that information too please.
8. Hi speedo; Your last three issues definitly sounds like an infestation. The first two could be related. Please try to follow our guide on removing malware. If you have any trouble running the following programs let us know and we'll try to find a way to make it possible for you. Your computer appears to be infected with Malware. Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a combination of the words malicious and software. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code. It is in your best interest to note the following: Please disable your resident security applications (such as AVG, Spybot, WinPatrol, etc.) before performing the below procedure so that they do not interfere with the process. Perform all the steps in the order listed to avoid any conflicts. If unsure, please stop and voice your doubts. You might be required to go offline during the disinfection process. Therefore, it is recommended to print off the instructions below for ease of reference. If you stick to the above guidelines, all should go smoothly. ================================================ STEP 1 Download ATF-Cleaner by Atribune. Save the file to your Desktop. Choose the radio button marked Create a Restore Point on the first screen and click Next. Give the restore point a name then click Create. The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a note of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore. Next, click on Start > Run, type Cleanmgr and click on OK. Click on the More Options tab. Click the Clean Up button in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the most recent one. This will remove any infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in "System Restore" are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only foolproof way to ensure the deletion of those files. Note: Do not clear restore points on a regular basis as doing so will clear all previous restore points even those that you may need. System Restore is a useful tool to revert your computer back to a working condition if something goes wrong. Re-enable all your security applications and please return here and tell us how the computer seems to be operating. Happy Safe Computing! Close browsers before scanning Scan for tracking cookies Terminate memory threats before quarantining
9. I'm not sure if I understand martin. Have you uninstalled those programs? So it seems you do have an internet connection. Try going online using Safemode With Networking. Let us know if that works. Exactly what product is this? Are you being prompted to purchase it from a popup or something. For that matter describe these popups in full.
10. Hi martin; It's obvious you're infected. Uninstalling whatever P2P or Torrent you are using to download music is the first step. Then you need to keep those programs off from now on.
11. Hi Amanda. Personally I would suggest Avira Antivir for the antivirus. It has two versions. Free and Premium. The free version is not a trial, requires no activation and you don't have to give out any details. I personally like the user interface over Avast which also has two versions one of which is free not trial. The sunbelt firewall is a trial period for the full version. However after the trial period it reverts to the basic free version is all. Agnitum also has a free version and all you have to do is give them your name and email but you will not get spammed. Both firewalls are easy to set up and use.
12. Thanks. At least we know the drive works and you have a way to burn now. I'm at a loss as to your original issues though.
13. Replacing an Ink Cartridge has some pretty extensive instructions on your printer. Scroll down to the bottom too.
14. My thoughts are with you and JEB in this difficult time.
15. Your Advent has a single DVD±RW Supermulti drive. By your first post you can read DVD's but not read CD's in that drive. Any drivers you need would have been on a disk. No drivers are available for download from Advent or The TechGuys. However you should not need any specific drivers for that drive. I think the CD portion of that drive has failed. For a disk to seem to complete a burn when it has not happens on a failed drive. And by the way your Advent should have the Cyberlink Power2Go software installed.
16. Take maynards advice. He knows these things. I would do his first. Afterwards run the other scans to see if you have anything else. Make sure you update MB and SuperAntispyware before you scan with them. SuperAntispware definitions updates in case an infection is stopping you from updating with the program.
17. 3D TEXTMAKER and Flaming Text have some options too.
18. It's very likely that the infection is preventing you from doing exactly that. Download and burn to disk ATF and MB from another computer. You will need the updates for MB so burn those to disk too. MalwareBytes updates. Can you download SuperAntispyware?
19. Sorry but I'm confused. You seem to say that you followed the steps on the malware guide in post 9 but now you say that MalwareBytes and Super Antispyware don't work. Can you please explain what you mean?
20. Hi polkat; I agree with Tootech that Cyberpatrol may be a great option. Due to the fact that your daughter is 13 and the other person has a criminal history I highly suggest that you contact the authorities. I don't know the laws wherever you are but this type of thing is not to be taken lightly.
21. OK you are connected then. Have you tried a different browser such as FireFox? What security products do you have installed? Have you tried to reset IE8 settings to the default? Go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Reset Internet Explorer settings>Reset Just to be sure I would also put a check in Delete personal settings.
22. Jill I think I know what you mean here. I assume you have got your drivers from fujitsu uk support by clicking on "visit Fujitsu Technology Solutions support website." You then downloaded the LAN and WLAN drivers for Amilo Pa 2548. Am I correct? If so once you unzip or uncompress the folder you saw a setup.dll file and tried to install the driver from the disk by double clicking on that. Am I correct? If so then look furthur as there is also a setup.exe in the LAN driver folder. Try installing by using that. Make sure you unzip the contents of the folder first. Make sure you get the WLAN drivers too.
23. Hi everyone; I'll post the picture that is contained in the doc file above so that everyone can see it.
