  1. It would help if you could try a different computer ( laptop ? ) connected to the router. If this drops out too then it is a router problem.
  2. As this seems to be all drivers ..... Can you try installing with the Anti-Virus / Firewall disabled ? See how you go doing this.
  3. Run it for a few days then let us know the results :)
  4. Hi Zoe, This is normally the case with wireless networks - sadly. Can you confirm that your flatmates are experiencing the same problem. We need to know as, if they are, then it is obviously a router problem. use this test please - wait for "Begin Test" to appear http://www.speedtest.net/ Let us know the results. It would be helpful to know the results from upstairs / downstairs / and one or two of your flatmates. It would also be helpful to know what connection speed you should be getting - in other words .....what package is being paid for? Is this network "Secured" ? If it has a Network Key ( password ) that is needed to initially connect then this is extremely unlikely.
  5. I know this is a serious thread but ..............you obviously have him mixed up with somebody else :) :)
  6. Hi Zoe Is there anybody else using the network and if so what is their connection like ?
  7. Hi and welcome to ExTS What happens if you plug the adapter into the USB port ? Does Windows detect new hardware ? Does the driver that you have "installed" show up in Programs and Features ?
  8. Hi Terry Have you tried Revo Uninstaller click here When given the option use the most advanced setting
  9. You both look like the cat that got the cream - especially the guy on the left :)
  10. Hi DocJock and welcome to ExTS Good to hear that this old thread is still helping members :)
  11. Hi Remove the lid or cover or panel so that you can access the inside of your machine. The motherboard is the big circuit board that everything is attached to. The RAM modules look like this: http://knoji.com/images/user/ram_slot_1.jpg It is easy to remove them# The white levers will need to be moved outwards and the module will be lifted out of the slot. (re-fitting is a matter of pressing one end down first then the other .....the locking levers will click into place) Yes Basically you are trying to get the system working properly. If it works OK with one module in - but not the other then you have identified the problem. If it is the same with both modules - put both back.
  12. I hope he didn't charge you for this ?? 1. Take the side panel off and check the inside of the case for dust. If there is any blow this away with a can of compressed air ( outside is best ! ) or use a soft brush. Pay particular attention to the motherboard - underneath as well. ( be careful here ) 2. Take the RAM modules out and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser. Put just one back. Try running the machine. If you get the same problem swap the modules over and run on the other one.
  13. Good to hear you are up and running again :)
  14. You are very welcome - glad to hear that it worked for you :)
  15. Hi Sorry for abandoning you ...........had to go out for the afternoon :) OK. Probably easiest to do it this way .... Start > type in ...diskmgmt.msc ....ENTER Right click on D: > Expand the Partition The Wizard will run. Don't alter any settings - just click on "Next" The unallocated space that you created will be re-allocated to D: Now run Easus software again. Right click on D: > Resize/Move On the left side drag the slider to the right ( see attachment previous post ) until you have the required amount that you wish to move to C: You will see unallocated space created to the right of C: Right click on this unallocated space. > Create partition > give it a name > OK Now right click on C: > Merge Partition Tick the new partition ( the one to the right of C ) OK. This should now merge the two partitions and leave you with just C: and the smaller D:
  16. Hi Run the Easus software. You will see your C:/ D:/ drives. Right click on D:/ > Create/Move. On the bar ............drag the left side along .....you will see Un-allocated Space created to the right of C:/ Decide how much you want to add to C:/ It is then possible to expand C:/ into the Un-allocated Space. See below:
  17. Hi You say you have shrunk D:/ Just to confirm - If you Start > type in ....diskmgmt.msc .....ENTER Is the amount that you shrunk D:/ by showing to the right side of D:/ ( furthest away from C:/ ) ? If, when attempting to download the software you click on "Save as" instead of "Run" you should then be able to select "Computer - D:/" as the location. Try it with this: Easeus Partition Tool ( I used MajorGeeks as the parent company d/l was playing up :) ) No need to subscribe.
  18. Hi There should be an icon ( bottom right of screen ) that looks like 2 monitors. If you right click on this > Connect to a Network You should be able to see your Virgin Network ................can you ? If you can click on the network and you should then be asked for the Network Key ( password ) I assume that the workplace have given you the Network Key ?
  19. Hi Do you get any POST beeps? a] when the machine boots up normally b] when it refuses to boot up
  20. Hi, I have split your post from the other thread as it gets complicated running two problems together :) Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration from the Advanced Start-up Options? Do you have the original installation disk ? ( no recovery disks )
  21. I cannot think, from what you have said, why this should happen. Somebody else here may be able to jump in with an idea or two. I will see what I can dig up in the mean time.
